We're breaking down at half-forward (again). Bombing a little indiscriminately.

Cale Morton just decided to dribble a shot along the ground from 30 metres, without taking a drop punt.

Malthouse hates the fact that we're allowing West Coast to have a loose man wherever they want (moving between their defence and at the contest). He says we can't win if we keep this up.

Bartram misses everything.

13 inside 50s for 1.2

They've had 9 for 3.2

This is playing out a bit like last week. And I just do not understand our fascination with a man behind the ball. It's killing us as we try to go forward. Ridiculous.

Also kicking efficiency is running at 51%. Skills just not where they should be.

less issue with his skills, more this....Morton - WORST TEAMMATE

Can't see the game as I'm stuck doing a bloody feasibility report - can you elaborate?

Malthouse thinks we've been 'fantastic': good pressure but terrible finishing (e.g. Morton and Bartram. They should have been goals and we should be in front).

Also noted that West Coast's defence has had more of the ball than their midfield (i.e. their loose man is chopping off our forward movements as we break down at half forward).

Malthouse now wondering why we have spare numbers on the opposite wing to where the ball is. 90 metres away, making no space that is relevant, and allowing West Coast to have extra numbers at the contest.

Goal to Kerr meanwhile. 27 to 8.

We are BAD , SAD and full of turnover specialists

Honestly though, it makes no sense to me why we do the loose man thing.

The only thing that makes marginal sense to me, is too far fetched... but stick with me a moment.

Maybe it's a development tactic? Our defense is pretty steady, the year is a write off - develop for the future by forcing our forwards to compete outnumbered, and our midfield to have it tough trying to deliver the ball in forward.

Theoretically, if we then play without a loose man down back, everything should work a lot easier.

The loose man in defense development tactic worked out for Jack Watts...

Ok, that's just too ridiculous for even me... but I can't fathom another reason.

Anybody else got something?

I'm at a loss.

Our skills are deplorable, and defensive pressure rubbish and as for protecting team mates with the ball.. don't bother.

The cue is in the rack already by the Melbourne players and has been for 3 weeks. We will barely beat Port playing like this.

Morton..... wow is really battling early.

Training drill. There are so many loose WCE players in our fwd line its F******. Why do we play 10m off our man in defence?????

Why can't we pick players up. In't s not a hard game. Our players are so STUPID.

Their attack on the footy is under 18s like.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
