The issue would be the positioning

Can't see any difference between Melbourne's Hankook logo and any other jumper e.g. Emirates at Collingwood, Vodaphone at Power, Ford at Geelong or Camry at the Crows. If anything the Hankook logo stands out more.

Mercedez Benz, if true would have some flow on effect, ie. we wouldn't be able to retain Volvo as a lower level sponsor.

And aren't they on our shorts?

That deal would have to finish this season in that case.

I doubt it's correct.

Maurie I was just going to suggest the same comparison to what must be the most marketable jumper in teh league....Collingwood's ( sigh) .. Emirates is positioned like Hankook...just below the clubs emblem..

Its a furphy for sure.

Is it?

Or is it the actual point of contention, and DLR just a stubborn bastard who got some bad advice..?

We don't know.

Really? Seemed like just late last year that they were announced as shorts sponsor.

How time flies.

Hancook is a Big Logo. To move it higher would compromise our Jumper design.... The Emblem sits over the heart. That is what i am guessing anyway.

Only the dealmakers would know..

Actually, I'm not so sure the jumper wouldn't look better if both the AFL and sponsor logos were moved higher on the jumper. That way, those logos wouldn't detract so much from the "V" shape. Then, the club emblem could be placed at the bottom of the "V".

Thoughts?

...................

The good news, however, is that a supposed sponsor willing to give $1.9m/year on either the front or the back, with the other side still up for sponsorship, which already has a few companies keen (going by the article).

Get some signatures quickly before the queue jumpers get active. The scum beat us to Mars and b'dogs stole Mission from our grasp.

Already did have a look. You're right BB.

And I don't find it strange - MFC have had an inordinate amount of media coverage this season.

It's been ridiculous. We've had more than Collingwood.

For any emerging brand wanting to get their name out in the marketplace, we'd be the prime candidate.

It might be due to Scully & Bailey's sacking/inner turmoil, but the sheer volume of press we've had should get us a good deal.

I didn't realise it'd be $1.9mil/year good, though.

Pure guesswork here.. but am thinking the new sponsor might actually be secured.. but with all the rumpus this week they might have defered announcing to next.

well, one hope s!!

right there is the corporate value of sponsoring MFC.....the recognition lasts!

Hopefully the news is good and a new major sponsor which is not a betting business has been landed.

The concern is however that loyal and long term sponsors have been unhappy.

MFC has a long history of over promising and underdelivering for sponsors, sometimes not anyones fault but in some cases have burnt off the incumbant. Previously LG and BMW left unhappily.

MFC is not only sporting club to experience this but is disappointing it can not find a major sponsor or 2 who last long term on the basis of sustained mutual benefit to both parties.

Timing of change of major sponsors right now not ideal either!

Interesting you mention LG, because they had such a bad relationship with Schwab they followed him to Freo as manor sponsor...

Posted

MFC could hardly be accused of under delivering !! Kaspersky are on record stating they can attribute their emergence as a brand here directly to their MFC sponsorship. No one outside of IT knoew of them here til they appeared on our jumper.

It is poor that we are losing a long standing sponsor. And there is more to it than meets the eye as usual. Sponsors are treated very poorly.

Schwab spends all his time sniffing linament instead of schmoozing sponsors and their clients. I have seen him on match days doing everything but making sponsors and their clients have a special day. LIke ot or not, its one of his main jobs. But he is more interested in running the footy dept.

im thinking that often emerging brands pick such beings as football jumpers to sponsor. M-Benz isnt such a beast. However one of the new Chinese car brands might just be such a beast.

Youve also got emerging retailers such as the new Bunnings Competitor , Masters.

So, you mean to tell me that if it is a betting agency that you would prefer us not to take the $1.9m? Even if it meant being able to throw a considerable amount at Scully and Malthouse? Sorry, regardless of social/personal impacts on gambling, we all have to accept that it is a part of life, and if they are willing to slip us a cool $1.9m, I'm happy to shake their hands when handing over the cheque. It will be nice to know that I will be donating to the Club in more ways than one!

B59, we will never get the Benz with the speed of our current rising from the bottom.

Yeah. I am guessing that Hankook has been supporting the club in one capacity or another for a decade or more. Not the major jumper sponsor but certainly as a minor sponsor and benefactor of the club.

It's not right that the club P$$$es all over these critical supporters. Hankook aren't the only sponsor I know of who have been totally disillusioned with the club's treatment of them.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
