Record sponsorship deal coming

Heart Beats True

I think you're missing my point.

I'm not sure why I have to explain my post either. I agreed with you (fair enough). And I agree that we shouldn't forget those in the past that contributed along the way, including tough times. I just thought it was an opportune time to reflect on the contributions of others given this thread topic is about sponsorship deals/

Your concern is noted.

Fair enough ?

How do you know the club's administration is at fault here?

As a club you honour the contract and try to accommodate the sponsor... to a point.

I know de la Rue is a longtime supporter of the club, but surely there are 2 sides involved in this.

If they are making demands over the placement of their logo that are unreasonable, I'm not sure the club is at fault.

For a start, the shape and size of the logo is awkward for a football jumper with a yoke like ours.

Not a good start.

Judging by what has occurred over the last week it is hard to believe they aren't at fault.

As i said this is my opinion and obviously not yours; I respect your right to your opinion.

Given the antagonistic nature of this board and my defensive nature, I assumed you were just another in the line wanting to have a crack at me. My mistake. (I think)

It does worry me, but I'm also aware that at this stage it's very easy to say that a party is in dispute with the club's admin, therefore the admin must be at fault.

I doubt De La Rue would be making wild demands, as he seems to care about the club first and foremost.

I imagine he was merely trying to get what he feels is an equitable return on his investment. Whether his judgment of equitable is correct or not, is not known.

I just think, like I do on most topics involving the club, that we don't really have enough information to crucify either party.

Although, I am concerned that there seems to be trend emerging.

Still, $1.9mil per year for the front is a bloody good improvement.

That has to count for something.

Don't know what the fuss is about, clubs change sponsors all the time just don't like losing influential supporter but thats life.

Position of the logo....read it again.

Thats some sort of red herrig surely to possibly another reason. Quite a few clubs have emblems onb jumpers. Its hardly a deal breeaker. The HANKOOK logo is very very prominent and hardly to be diluted by teh MFC above it..

Agreed, a red herring

The hankook logo on the jumper is one of the most prominent and visible in the AFL

must be other issues???

The issue would be the positioning, as the logo sits too low and would be cut off when photos of players are cropped for the newspapers, or on tv.

It's not a major issue to you or I, but if I was De La Rue and looking for maximum exposure for my $, I wouldn't be happy about the logo being shifted further down for an emblem that wasn't a consideration when I signed on.

I think that's a significant point of contention, but I side with the club on this.

There would have to be another issue - but Laurie can be a stubborn p...k.

Those quotes suggest he has had a chat to a consultant and taken it to heart. The Hankook logo is this huge white thing - people see it...

Maybe he was priced out of the market - he was a reluctant sponsor to begin with - helping us out when no-one else would.

Who could the new sponsor be ......

Quilton toilet paper (soft and sh1tty)?

Donald Trump (You're Fired!)?

Or maybe Sherman Tanks???

:)

Hopefully a company of crack lawyers...

I not sure he was a reluctant sponser when he put his money where his mouth was.

At present we don't need enemies we are doing a great job of tearing our selves apart.

While the reported figure appears great (and surprising), our inability to retain Kaspersky or Hankook beyond their first deals is concerning. This is especially so for Kaspersky as they are actively expanding sports sponsorship in Australia (see Manly Sea Eagles).

Agree - but stakeholder engagement is not a strong suit of the MFC.

Yep Cropping is a major issue with presentation in media.

Sure there maybe other issues but the logo position is paramount.

For example..F1 helmet space and racing suit space is worth a small fortune as is the car. It is all sold on position.

Is this it ?

BB59, I have removed it for the time being in accordance with the owner of this site and with respect to the club announcement.

I'm not even sure what this is you've posted or if it is indeed it.

Its not like the Hankook logo is banished to the socks or such...its as big as day and in your face.. The positioning argument inthis instance is hooey!!

A convenience of exit..and if so..fair enough.. Thanks for your support...and bye !!!

You are not thinking of the cropping of a newspaper shot BB. The lower the logo the further from the head...so it gets chopped in half or missed.

It is not Hooey i assure you when companies are paying.

mate... im fully aware of such things.. and the reality is the logo has dropped by about2- 3 cm only in position...its a non argument. TheMFC emblem sits high on the chest. Hardly influencing the Hankook. just look at comparitive images.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
