If he plays like he did the other night for the rest of the year, he'd be in with a chance of winning it surely? Some tough opposition this year though.

They will be some kid that plays well in a couple of sat night matches and is rarely seen around that that the journos will champion.

Swallow comes to mind.

Kid will be great, but as his coach, I take a keen interest in him and he isn't up to Gysberts' level yet.

Well deserved, a great future awaits Gysberts and I am pleased we have signed him for an additional two years.

This is pretty much what I was going to post so I'll just quote you :)

I'm excited to see how he develops, particularly given his pace.

PS. Who is our next nom? Tapscott?

Well earned by Gys. Has an important part to play in the potentially best midfield combination in the AFL.

Yes, great to see. Hope the Carlton mob noticed he won it the same game that McLean was dropped. Kind of ironic, eh?!

Finally some common sense from the AFL. Still cant believe that guys like heppell, conca and steven get nominated before guys like gysberts, tapscott, liberatore and wallace.

Heppell and Conca have both been very good. I'd have Heppell over anyone in that list on performance so far this year. Good on Gyz, don't know if he's a chance of winning it, Shuey and Z.Smith IMO have been fantastic, Smith with consistency for a big man, Shuey with a couple of amazing one off games and some decent form throughout.

You don't rate Heppell?

Congrats to Gys. Thoroughly deserved.

Got Gysberts sitting on my bench as a pinch-hitter in Supercoach and just can't bring myself to trade him out!

I'm really tempted to trade him into my team, but it would be at the expense of Swallow, Liberatore or Dangerfield. If he follows it up with another 100+ points this week I may go ahead with it.

Will be a very handy player around finals time as a replacement mid. Ball magnet!

Smith was born in Feb 1990, too old?

Have to be under 21 at the start of the year and have played less than 10 games in previous seasons.

Surely Howe will get a nom if he continues like he started.

Rising Top 5 to Round 11

1. Heppell

4. Shuey

5. Gysberts

Bit hard to win it when he's not nominated (yet). It does say to Round 11.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
