WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

Emma is quite a reliable source, it is a worry that he has a 2nd interview, means that the first one wasn't a right off :-(

Refer to my post again.

It's nothing personal against you it's just getting tiresome to sift through the [censored] here, making Demonland almost impossible to read.

Not just "almost".

speculate - to believe especially on uncertain or tentative grounds

What am I believing here? This is more of suggesting an example....not speculation.

Sorry, that definition doesn't change anything. (and is one of many definitions btw) You are speculating when you say "For all we know we could be offering...." Tell me how is it that this isn't a speculative comment.

If i were speculating I would have worded it as 'Apparently we are in talks to trade Petterd for GC's 5th round pick'

Grow up and read things properly before making such a hypocritical post.

Thats not speculation either. Thats rumour mongering, trolling etc if you worded it that way. Speculation is about conjectural thought. i.e your opinion.

... and before you go off half cocked again, I am not accusing you of trolling either. *sigh*

I still think its more of an example but I am happy to agree to disagree to the meaning of the word. Lets keep this thread about Viney.

That said my point was that yes we will probably take him at #3 though I wouldn't say it is 100% chance. If we take him at #3 I will have the confidence that he was worth it. If we don't then their would be an obvious reason why and I am sure we will find out that reason come draft day.

You have heard that or that's what you think? As I am pretty sure MFC released a statement saying we will take the best available players at #3 be it Viney or not.

Source?

I have heard from TWO club sources, one who is involved in recruiting and who said he could bet his house on it - We will take Viney at pick 3 if we have to - Even Cam Schwab has unofficially said so.

Did any one Just Hear Tim Harrington on trade week radio??

Almost certain if GC bid for Viney we will let him go to the suns.

Yep i just heard that too, also suggested that when it comes to it Viney would want to walk straight back after 2 years. no questions.

Hutchy, Wallcae ect everyone suggested we would not take him if push came to shove, Viney snr saying Jack is not top 3 in this draft previously.

Interesting

I did hear that although I truly believe we are just saying that as to make it look like we won't be panicked into making a decision. We are calling their bluff however if it does come down to it we will select Viney. Simple as that, GC are bluffing us and we are bluffing them right back.

Mark Neeld said so in an interview, was from Melbournefc.com.au

Still interesting that so many neutral sources believe he is not top 3 and that we will pick best available.

Knowing he is 99% likely to come home, for a pick combination better than 3 even if we mus trade for him.

I hope GC believed that as well, then it would have worked.

I would love to know what a tough club like Collingwood would do in our situation? I think they would play hard ball and do exactly what we are doing. Unlike some on here that think we should just declare our hand now, madness!!!

This is the real world, we gotta be tough and be pricks to make sure we set ourselves up. Its life!!! We would be laughing stock otherwise...

I heard that interview too.

What do you want us to say?

You would want him to say exactly what he said.

from that interview i got the feeling we have him in the bag....Suns won't go for him

anyway from TAnning Terry...

  • Do the Suns risk pick 2 & call the Demons bluff on Viney ? I think not.

I think the more important point is that everyone else on the radio suggested we would not pursue Viney as there are better players to pick. that points was very solid.

STFU

stfu ? anything else to add or did you have a fit whilst using the keyboard ?

I've listened to the interview and he said nothing of the sort. He said we'd take him if we thought he was the best available at pick 3 and it depended what would be available at the first live pick, which would be pick 2.

Report what you hear, not what you think someone means.

And fwiw, I have zero doubt we'll take him.

Melbourne's "we won't over-rate Jack Viney" has a hint of West Coast's "Jack Darling is a liability" about it.

Ah so Jack viney is a liablity.....cough cough, i hear what your saying, second round pick then

Thanks to Wojcinski....hasn't passed a concussion test since. Big risk for GCS.

Yeah I liked that, hopefully we make a stand.

If you get a chance there is an interview with Kevin sheanan on dee tv, there is no question viney will be at Melbourne, he is the exact player we want

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
