Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This club needs change, so bring it on...This move could really help Bailey as well. I like it.

It's not as if Stynesy is being forced to do this...he wants to do it, to be active. Awesome.

'S funny but if it was anyone else I'd see it as a power tussle but with Jim I see it as a firm hand being applied to the tiller.

I hope I'm right.

if one was at all skeptical you might wonder as to exactly the nature of Stynes firm hand !!

I for one wil be intrigued to see if not only the fervour of our players increases but if the nature and style of game might not shift...maybe just a tad

Jim Stynes is and will forever be one of the best things that ever happened to our great club!

Much love Jimma! We all have faith in you!

Agreed.

I would be interested in how everyone reads this, but this to me is a very worrying sign about where we think we are at.

A president's role is non-operational, and that's for very good reasons. Don't get me wrong, because it's Jimmy, I have every faith that he will succeed in whatever he is trying to do, but it is a massive slap in the face of the footy department, and maybe even the MFC management generally. I think CC would have to be on his way out.

There must be some punches in the consultant's report about the structure and personnel of our FD.

I really think the past 6 months there have been some really worrying off-field signs.

I agree with this. I haven't had any time to let this sink in but at first glance it isn't a good look. It looks like a big vote of no confidence.

Presumptuous and conspiratorial waffle.

From a board perspective, I could imagine that the recent consultant's review may have suggested that we need a director of the football department (even just a board-responsible person) that has not been there since AL stepped down. Jim takes it on in an 'acting' capacity - his experience and passion on one hand, but also the external perception on the other (Big Jim is like Lassie, everyone loves him!). Can see the appointment of a separate director of the football department at some stage. Jim's job is not to coach, but perhaps to start moving the resources about to support fitness and medical (as outlined in the article).

Sorry Mulder and Scully, no aliens or conspiracies in this one. I imagine this would have happened if we beat the Eagles by 50 points.

Well one thing we know is that the players respond to Jim Stynes on an emotional level. Seeing as there is a view we play without passion this could be a nice change up.

Given MFC have:

1. A coach in his final year of contract with question marks about his future and the Board not having a Board director reporting on football operations.

2. A CEO that would seem to have some questions about aspects of the FD.

3. A comprehensive external study of the Club and its football needs that highlights the need for a Football Director.

Why has the Board been so slow to have replaced Andrew Leoncelli who had resigned from this critical role presumably prior to his announcement at the AGM? This announcment while welcome is a knee jerk reaction by Board that has seemingly been asleep at the wheel.

The last six weeks makes a fallacy of that belief. Stynes has been highly visible around the Club for some time and if the players have not been inspired to date by Stynes battles and charisma well....

Hmm there's probably merit in that.

The essence of the story is:

: We have been without a Footy director since Leoncelli stepped down from the Board at last year's AGM

: Stynes is fill that role on the board

: The Board is to establish a sub-committee to look at the coaching position as the Senior Coach is out of contract at the end of the year

Sounds like business as usual to me.

I think this is terrific, in the past we would have just accepted the mediocrity, but Jimmy saying. We have come a long way in the last 3 years and we're not going back.

He is the most amazing passionate man i can think of.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
