Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who cares if he's lost his VC? He was a leader before he was VC, and he'll be a leader after his F-up. Having VC next to his name doesn't make a difference to any of us.

But I bet Brent cares. He's already playing well, and I reckon this will make him even better, my biggest knock is his slow starts out of the middle, with some fire in the belly and something to prove, I'm hoping he starts pumping it out of the centre from the get go.

Beautifully handled by our club. Sets an example, hits Brent where it hurts but doesn't hurt our chances of winning. Perfect.

Still concerns me that he was even out at that time.... let alone getting [censored]. Horribly unprofessional and very disrepectful to his team mates. Thats what annoys me most.

It's Weds tomorrow. Closer to game day again and we can talk about the real issue with Moloney.

His questionable disposal.

There, I said it.

The thing is which isn't taken into context is the amount of contested possesions and hard ball gets Moloney gathers in a game makes people think he has poor skills. Also a lot a quick centre clearances that he just gets the ball moving. It's easy for guys like Bennell who get the soft possesions to look skillfull but never get the hardball. Geez cut the guy some slack he is the only reason we have a win and a draw. The more pressing issues are our forward line and why Bate and Petterd can't get a game.

No.. I tend to think his gathering abilities are great...its what he does with it and how is particulalrly one dimensional. Once he has the pill its predicatable what he'll try. Makes it very easy for oppositions. If he kicks it...defend the area 50m further. If he gets the ball apply the second tackle as he'll stil lbe attempting to utilise it by then.

Its not just me who notices this..many of my "other team' mates have pointed it out.. Hes all g'n'd. and thats wonderful to a point. It worries me hes to oset in his ways to morph up to a more dangerous player by opening his eyes and usiing his nut !!

I really rate Beamer his attitude to the club and game has

Been exemplary I think this is a blip a mistake which was blown

Out of proportion I hope he continues his form. He is currently a key

Ingredient of which we have little and that's hardness around the ball.

I wish him the best he'd certainly be very embarrassed.

I just love his passion for the MFC and want to see him back at his best.

At last some perspective on the situation, there seems to be alot of handwrining on this post

Just want to know if there are some double standards here and what sort of message players are getting out of this. I agree that off field issues need to be dealt with swiftly as they can undermine a clubs culture and set a bad example to young players. However my contention is that weve taken the ruthless approach to beamer here. We seem to be very tolerant of players whos on field performances, output and effort are consistently poor however as soon as a bloke goes out a couple of hours too late and consumes a couple of drinks too many he gets crucified. Moloney is a great leader of our club- one of the many few and surely were much worst off now without him in the position of VC. Couldnt it have been used as a warning and we all move on and get ready for this weekend??? This is going to really hurt beamer im afraid

Nah, I think Beamer would expect this, and respect it. I think it will help him to come through this challenge a better man and person, and player.

Can't believe we fell for it!

Agree - once more. Cannot understand how we have fell for this.Young Harnett may not have had one or two to many but he only got find $2500 for similar offences. Maloney in his first offence at the club lost his dignity, lost his leadership role, his V/captaincy and was virtually told how to answer to the media. Unbelievable IMO.

He gets held to a higher standard because he is the VC.

And he didn't lose his dignity or his leadership role. He is still a leader.

All on the say so of an anonomous caller to Maquire .

If it was a Collingwood player do you think it would've been aired on Eddie's breakfast show ?

Nah ... Don't think so .

Moloney obviously made a rare mistake (who hasn't), had a few too many a little too late .

Didn't [censored] on the bar as gleefully reported , left premises without incident .

Shoulda kept the punishment in house rather than publicly humiliating the man .

Maguire would be having a quiet giggle tonight at his little disruption to our club .

Exactly. Leaders still lead, regardless of their titles. That's what makes them leaders. Not only that, but all good leaders learn from their mistakes better than most people. We'll just have to see whether Moloney is a good leader in that regard.

I dunno. It seemed - in non Demon supporters - to bring up memories of how he defended his lying little friends when they hit the [censored] too hard and went for a drive.

I think while it might be harsh on Beamer it's sent a huge message to everyone else: We are Melbourne.

This was discussed on AFL 360 and David King made the point that if the matter is deemed serious enough by the club to strip him of the VC, then it is serious enough for him to be dropped for a week or two. If not, what is the VC actually worth?

disagree

Stripping him of the VC punishes Beamer for his actions. The guy is a life long Dee's man so no doubt being a VC of the club would have been a big deal to him.

Rubbing him out for a few weeks would punish him, but also the team. Why punish the rest of the team for something Beamer did alone?

At the end of the day though, our next two games are winable, so no doutb the club didnt want to punish themselves by handing out a suspension to one of our key players....

that's all there is to it

losing this week to GC would be an absolute disaster, rubbing out your best player was simply not an option

David King can get flogged who cares what he says

All those forgiving him, are as soft in terms of discipline, as he is.

With this poor attitude we are not going to be successful anytime soon.

When are we gunna get tough?

Put in leaders that lead by example...............always!

The real sad part is that he can really play football!

i forgive him in a heartbeat. I honestlty dont think that getting blind drunk is an unforgivable act. He didnt break the law or do anything sus.

Of course its unacceptable for an AFL player to get smashed after a game, but not unforgivable IMO

Must be all those drinking sessions at the Turf Club on a Saturday night that King can impart that knowledge.

I actually rate Kings thoughts on football fairly highly but that is crap.

Why should the team suffer as a result of one? He'll be VC again in 2012. Bank on it!

League Teams revealed last night that after Sunday's game the leadership group addressed the players - and specifically mentioned not going out after the game.

Time to move on but if true, does lend more weight to the thought that the right decision was made on Beamer.

As a few have said before - you didnt need a name tag saying leadership group or VC to be a leader. I think leading is in Beamers DNA and he will continue to do as he always has and I have little doubt he will redeem himself.

How would you be satisfied with your pound of flesh,,, without hurting the rest of the team? And the clubs season?

What is a personal punishment that doesn't punish the side and the club at the same time?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
