Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Beamer in trouble ...

Yeh, the 11AM SEN news definitely reported it - had nothing about urinating and went more along the lines of "heavily intoxicated at a St Kilda bar in the early hours of the morning" and Schwab said it was all being investigated.

Weeks, no doubt. No special compensation for being a senior player, if anything he should be dealt with in a harsher manner. We have a young playing group and the last thing we need is the team getting out on the [censored] every weekend.

Use it as a big learning experience, Don't strip his V.C. just a 2 week suspension if anything, B.T.W I need him for my Supercoach team!

You want to be a leader you act like one both on and off the field. Make him earn his spot back in the leadership group through his actions.

Gives you an idea to the footballers psyche

Just had a win, got Gold Coast next week, they aint much chop, let go out and get on the gas.

Proves that the players may starting to believe they are better than they actually are.

Why are they up at a nightclub at 2.30 anyway? Remember only a while ago Beamer got in trouble after being at a night club after 12AM! Not Good! Hope it's not true!

Unless there was more than one incident of the same type, I'm pretty sure it was Sylvia.

Hmm I smell a club suspension coming. Let's hope it's not true.

We really need him against the GC as well, he's the one player that would physically intimidate their younger players.

If we 'really need him against the GC' we're far worse than I think we are.

Embarrassed himself badly, however cut the boy some slack, its out of character for this bloke. Tough as they come and gives the club his all. Fine him heavily. Very heavily if you like, but don't penalise the team. The club could do with a few bob after our truly pathetic turnout yesterday.

There are reasons why you might cut someone some slack. Urinating on a bar isn't one of those, so I wouldn't be 'cutting some slack' if that was true.

Right, so everyone here was there and saw it happen? Geeze listen to you all, judge jury and executioner and all that's happened is someone called in Triple M and said they saw this. FFS it could have been anyone, how about we wait and hear some facts first??

I'm pretty sure every post in this thread suggesting some sort of penalty has explicitly or implicitly made the caveat 'if true'.

Lets assume he is guilty as charged!

If that is the case then I believe we should follow Malthouse's attitude.

No playing suspension, a large Fine and suspension from the leadership group.

Why penalise the team and supporters for his stupid act!

sorry when was it decreed that footballers are not even allowed to drink anymore, or do you have no idea what you're talking about but made the comment anyway. Of course they can hit the gas the night after a game, it is not illegal.

We've had a draw and a 2-goal win and he was BOG in each, you might say he is important

If the club suspends him and we lose this match words cannot express how angry I will be

You can see the press conference here - http://video.heraldsun.com.au/1876310373/Brent-was-intoxicated

A brief summary of a brief video:

Schwab: Moloney was out late last night and was intoxicated; that is unacceptable and we're very disappointed. We have high expectations of our leaders and expect them to model the behaviours we're looking for with this young group. We don't know the full facts yet but we will deal with what we need to; we will not be sweeping anything under the carpet. Regardless of what else has happened, his behaviour was already outside the expectations we're looking for.

I hopethat anger will be directed at Moloney for letting the Club down.

I guess I stand corrected, when was it decided you are just not allowed drink at all anymore if you play footy? I didn't know that

This is a strawman. (If you disagree, show me where the Club suggests Moloney is outside of expectations simply for having a drink).

I for one think there's a difference between 'just having a drink' and being out at a bar, 'intoxicated', at 2:30-3:30AM a few hours before a recovery session.

Penalties imposed may not relate to just suspension of matches "if true" - it could be things such as extra hours community work with the club, visits to schools, programmes, extra training, guest speaker at club functions.

But I would be inclined to suspend the investigation until next week and if guilty, he can be absent from the Round 5 fixture. :P

Or better still, play at Casey on the bye weekend and try to earn a recall for round 6. :)

Ok...he needs to be dealt with in an appropriate manner.

given the standard we are trying to set and the culture we are trying to build - a culture that says "sylvia, you are being punished just for being out past midnight" then its not hard to realise that beamer is outside of these.

everyone knows alcohol is bad for the body and has a negative impact on the perfomance of the body. one or two beers maybe after a win, quiet ones, but not lots. he will need a whole extra session to work them off - something that is extra bad when their program is so finely tuned already.

put simply its a stupid thing to do.

not to mention that it sets a horrible example to the rest of them.

what would james mcdonald say?

Sorry Benno, I normally like reading you posts, but what has this got to do with it? I'm sure James would say the same thing that the current leadership group would be saying.

It's funny, we had a thread last week about people whinging that we didn't pick up Jack Darling, and weren't too concerned about his off-field demeanours, now we have one of our senior players invovled in an "incident" and we are jumping up and down!

I think a fine of 50% of his next 2 match payments, and a run at Casey during our bye week.

How about he just dose Community Service working with people who Alcohol has ruined there lives this week, he doesn't play on Sunday and if he dose these well, He can train again with the boys in the bye and then play west coast. Maybe spending time with people whose life has been ruined due to over drinking may change his behavior????

Or his disappointment at being overlooked for the captaincy is a part of whats caused him, to do this.

Somethings going on, thats unsettling him. We don't know what that is. Only that this sounds way out of charachter for Beamer.

You seriously don't have a clue, do you?

Your posts are unintentionally hilarious.

Anyway, I'd hoped Beamer had grown up & got this sort of behaviour out of his system.

Disappointingly, it looks like he hasn't.

Shame.

I know that at Geelong they worked their backside off to find him some employment outside of footy to keep him occupied, because he had a tendency to get up to mischief.

Not necessarily of this sort, but it was seen as only a matter of time.

Assuming it's true, the urinating doesn't bother me; it's the late booze-up hours before a recovery session, when our side is struggling for form.

You can't be serious.

I know men can be idiots and find it hard to deal with emotions/ hard situations and so they normally run away or lash out, but I've never heard of a guy urinating in public because he was angry or upset.

Whichever way you look at it his behavior is unacceptable and sets a terrible example for the sort of behavior we expect from our players.

I hope the club punishes him accordingly. Very very poor form.

I think your extending your fantasy beyond resposible for someone who hasn't blotted the copybook.

So until we understand the situation and circumstances, we should just keep to labeling it unacceptable.

The fact that he is out late - non issue. He is an adult and can use his time any way he likes as long as it does not affect his work, which in this case is footy. Too many people precious about footballers and curfews.

As for getting drunk (if true). Yep, this affects his fitness, mental health and therefore his footy.

As for urinating in a bar. You have got to be kidding!!! If this is true, it is much worse than urinating outside like Fev or those others a couple of years back. It is inside, there are people all around, and a lot of people find it offensive. Oh, and by the way, it is also illegal on health grounds.

You're a leader Brent and this is ridiculous for someone of your stature at the club. Pathetic for a senior player and club leader. Should be called to give account to the playing group. 2 weeks out of the game penalty.

I can't believe one of that our players has stooped to this after all the St. Kilda stuff over the break, Fevola, all the Collingwood stuff with Didak and Shaw a few years ago. Our first win now tainted with this.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
