Wonna won't be ready for another week or 2, according to the man himself.

Gawn is a bit green and we have other young rucks that need the experience.

Tapscott will be very close.

No rush on Tapscott or Gysberts ease them back into it I thinks Casey start their practise matches on the 6/3. If we win through the NAB next week you keep playing best available, if we lose then we rest a number of senior players the following week.

green should play forward all year, would kick 50 easy

Davey will also play prominately forward as well.

I thought I had heard / read somewhere that LJ may not play. No injury concerns, but preference is to build his workload gradually leading into the season proper.

He'll play what?

Seriously, if both Green and Davey are to spend a lot of time in attack, it's a squeeze to fit in Dunn, Bate, Bennell, Wonaeamirri, Jurrah, Watts, Petterd, Maric, Howe.

Healthy competition for spots in that forward line.

(Anyone noticed Petterd is almost solely regarded by supporters as a forward now?

Before the beginning of the 2010 season, a lot of people were doubting his ability as a forward and were calling for him to be moved back to a HBF, where he began.

He can also play on a wing too.)

I think Petterd has more to offer up forward than Bate. If Davey plays more up forward eans our midfield is flying with out him and e is back to being a very dangerous small forward.

Agree on Petterd, think he's going to become a very damaging player as our forward line develops.

Would you rather have a mid size forward line that all can kick goals or play an undersize tall forward who has the turning circle of the queen mary

The first round of the NAB cup came across as more of a novelty than anything else - especially with the "last touch" boundary rule.

For mine, the real stuff starts round 2 and it will be interesting to see how we go against what looks to be a seriously (over)hyped Dons outfit. Would be a beautiful thing to really take the wind out of those sails come Thursday.

Essendon have some tall timber down forward Hurley, Ryder, Carlisle, Cramari,Gumby - not sure we can contain them all with Frawley out. Hurley especially looked powerful against bris, StK.

Jeez, well when you twist the reality of the situation to suit your agenda, the answer is easy...

I'd take the mid-sized forwards.

But that proves nothing.

Well, I reckon we are going to win. How does the comp play out? Who would we meet in the semis?

Place for Warnock then (if he's fit). And with this talk of Stef Martin being "mister versatile", a chance for him to show his wares.

Obviously, we'd be stronger with Frawley, but the players we have there seem to be stepping up nicely.

Dare I say it.... but seeing as the AFL have named Melbourne as the home side to play Essendon, would that at all mean we get to wear our traditional guernsey on Thursday night ? Would that mean Essendon get to wear their "clash jumper" ?

Do they actually have one?? You're not thinking of the one with the wider red stripe are you?? That hardly counts.

This will be an almighty task to win ,I think. They have gained a very powerful young tall side when all fit.A real test for us,in particular with our injury list.

Posted

How many players can we play? How many interchange and subs?

Despite a few injuries there's at least 27 or 28 players I'd like to see - some will have to miss out.

Posted

I think the 6 interchange plus 2 subs still apply. The AFL will be loviing the draw fro the second round. They have 2 games that were teams that finished in the top 6, a game with two teams on the way back and a game no one cares about in WA. They will get over 25,000 to each game.

Good question HT but perhaps an even better one is will the AFL have the umps in red and black like last friday night.

Can they screw it up more the St. Kilda red, white and black, Essendon Red and Black and umpires red and black!

Who wants to be against Melbourne in the white clash jumper?

Fremantle have changed their jumper, the Green is gone, from memory all Purple with a white anchor home and all white with Purple anchor away.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
