So i hear all these murmurings about a new bulked up Cale Morton ... this is a running joke in my family as we never thought we'd see the day he added some weight to that lanky frame!

Problem is I can't locate any pics to confirm these rumours...could someone post one up here please?

Well he still is skinny.Whilst some posters have declared he has put on 5kls- he could do with at least another 16 kls. Hestill looks as though he needs a good feed.

He looked fat next to Scully in the practice match.

Obviously he wasn't, he is still skinny, but he has more bulk about him, with not much definition yet.

You can see he is filling out though.

Another 6kg of defined muscle would be perfect.

16kg is just silly.

I don't think he has the frame and bone structure to carry too much extra weight. Will look artificially puffed up and might slow him down. I think a year or two of natural physical maturity may help more.

Got a pretty big serve by some of the posters on here regarding his performance in the intra club. I thought he showed quite a lot however, worked well into space and made some great defensive efforts. The boy no doubt has talent

As I said recently, he's in Travis Johnstone land. Has all the gifts but has been unable to translate them into consistent quality performance thus far. I suspect like Johnstone it is at least partially in the grey matter.

If he had massive guns and a barrelled chest, you would mistake him for Dermott Brereton.

However, despite his skinny legs, and frame, his legs do look stronger and he is carrying more up top.

It feels kind of weird giving physical descriptions.... I think I might quit while I'm ahead.

The kid can play and I expect a bold showing from him this season ..injuries permitting.

I went to the training before the intra club and was

Stand very close to him, he is definitely a bit big around

The chest and torso area but he's arms still look like there

The arms of a 12 year old

I had a good look at him at the intra club game. He let off a high-pitched squeal as he tried to keep the ball in play in front of me on the wing. He still looks very skinny, but a more muscular-skinny instead of the footy-jumper-doesn't-look-right-on-him skinny. He is also increasingly looking like Murray from the Wiggles, but I doubt that'll affect his game.

He is in the background of picture 19 from the intra club gallery here - http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/gallery-e6frf9o6-1225999604981?page=19

You can notice arms have bulked up but not defined and legs looking a bit stronger

Good observation.I must admit that when I look at his legs at training,I say to myself-not much added.

He's actually got defined thighs now. He used to look like a Little Leaguer wearing his big brother's shorts !

Robbie Flower needed to bulk up as well and he would have been a better Player

Get real

Cale is a great young player get over his weight (although the predisposition to "squeal" does worry me)

I would not how ever put him in the same class as Trapper

Classic. Wonder if cale knows how to drive the big red car as well as murray! Yes I have young kids and wiggles not for my pesonal consumption (really).

He moved from Travis Johnstone land the day I saw him back into a pack last year and do his knee in mid air.

Now he like Watts needs to learn to use speed and agility to lay some tackles. At present he doesn't lay nearly enough. Would love Bailey to give him more roles like the Goodes one. Why not blokes like Pendlebury and dangerous tall running types to shut down.

His attacking game is good, sometime very good, but defensively he is one of our worst. and that's a key area Bailey highlighted for this year.

wasn't it the reason he was dropped?

BTW I meant like TJ he has an out-of-whack talent vs output ratio

He has played three seasons, one of which he missed half with a knee injury. What output did you expect from a skinny kid in his first years?

If you're gonna bulk up one piece at a time, then extra power in the legs is surely the best place to start.

The opposite of Brock Mclean!

And as far as references to Travis Johnstone go, let's just be clear that while Cale Morton might also have a psychological barrier to overcome, it is very different to Johnstone's. Trapper was... well, his problem wasn't a shortage of confidence, which I think Cale shows at times.

People should stop telling him he's too skinny to play - you don't wanting that thought in his head, especially since it will feel like something he doesn't have control over. A player who thinks they can't 'make it' because of something they don't have control over is in a bad situation.

Haha yeah although by looking at Murray these days I wouldn't be surprised if his drivers' liscence has been suspended.

Leave RF out of this discussion.....HE WAS SIMPLY A FREAK ! Cale, as a versatile player with a touch of class, needs to bulk up a bit to improve his competitiveness.....and that includes for a guaranteed spot in the side !

Cale Morton looked practically FAT at the practice match.

Good to see.

Who knows, he might turn out to be someone like Michael Tuck. Good to see you back e25. When did they let you out of jail? :)

Cale has trouble keeping bulk on when all the aerobic work starts. It's simply his physiology. I imagine he will never be bulked up enough for some here.

It's really his strength that's crucial.

So he has put on bulk/weight/strength over summer but he is not nor ever will be Beemer.

As an interesting aside when Bodan(?) got to the club he looked at Sylvia and said " his shape is all wrong". They set about reconstructing Col so that he had more bulk up top and less around the legs/hips. I find it interesting that posters have commented on the lower bulk of guys like Trengove and Morton on light of this....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
