Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can't see St Kilda beating them, so it might be time to pack it up.

The pies play the same full pressure game as the saints, yet seem to have a fair bit more flair about how they finish it all off.

Nice to think that we rightfully had claims on beating them twice this year.

I don't post here often but watching tonight has made me think about the effectiveness of a really good zone like Collingwood and St Kilda use.

Bailey seems to have us following the Geelong model of high risk, fast, corridor-centric Geelong-like footy. Great when it works, terrible when it doesn't.

Collingwood looks so good tonight that I'm worried we're throwing all our eggs in the one gameplan basket.

It's the only way to do it.

You need to have one single gameplan that the players can rely on their teammates implementing.

If they know what their teammates is doing and thinking, that is the only way they can act as one.

It's honestly my worst nightmare, a Collingwood- St Kilda grand final. The only thing worse is a Carlton- Hawthorn grand final.

Somebody please please take my eyes out... this is just horrendous.

And yet when we played them this year they struggled to get on top of us. Go figure?

St Kilda & Collingwood both use zone's but in different ways. Collingwood's is more a full press where the defence push up past the wing and form the last line, their forwards are the first line of defence and they make it hard to get it past their own forward 50 let alone the wing. The pies then use the wings to hit up targets and make sure they keep the ball with quick leads & ball movement. St Kilda play more of a zone across half back and spread the ball or attack up the middle depending on the best option, as opposed to Collingwood who always go wide. St Kilda will pick targets that keep the ball similar to Collingwood but are alot slower with the ball as leg speed is an issue for them, holding it remains even more important if they are to score. Collingwood score more freely and thus will win the flag.

Hopefully when we are challenging, it is the start of a dynasty for us & whatever game plan we have will be what others implement. Collingwood & St Kilda both rely on pressure more than anything rather than being reliant on a few stars. That can be replicated with similar talent if the desire is there.

G. Ablett is playing as if there's no next week.

Wait a minute ...

He will play more often at Kardina Park than the 'G as a GC player coming to Melbourne B)

Unfortunately it looks like it's a choice between a Collingwood flag and our little "haven't-won-a-premiership-in-fifty-years" club becoming one smaller - whether it's the Saints or (highly unlikely) the Doggies.

That's right. And since the Saints are going to win, I cannot seriously believe I am going to be a Saints fan next weekend. It's like those "Would you rather" quizzes.

As much as I can't stand Collingwood, I would prefer they win. St Kilda winning means that, besides Fremantle I've had the misfortune of seeing everyone bar Western Bulldogs/Footscray or my beloved Demons salute as premiers.

The other issue with barracking for St Kilda next week is Stephen Milne. So help me god I will never support that thing to win a flag.

I hope for a small miracle tomorrow that sees the Dogs making the GF. They'll get smashed but at least I'll have a clear cut favourite to support. Otherwise next week will be worse than the Sydney-WC years where I honestly yawned the entire time.

I will say this though, every year it gets harder and harder watching finals. You keep thinking when will it be us, when will we be a real chance. Sure we made it 10 years ago, but we were never a chance. I want to go into a GF as raging favourites, I want to enjoy big preliminary final wins. This whole month just sucks without us! :(

Boy didn't he pick the perfect time to get out.

Cats are stuffed. They'll be ok over the coming years but their best is behind them. Ling is nothing anymore.

Just returned from the G. Had Premium tickets lower level on the Demon faithful 50m line Punt Road end, excited by the mouth watering prospect of the match of the decade. Sadly, it looked over 15 minutes into the 1st quarter.

Pies were unbelievable. I hate them passionately, but u had to admire how half a team of no names could obliterate such a champion team (were a champion team, their heart was ripped out and spat on tonight).

Go you Sainters ( but just quietly, its all over folks!!, Pies will be deserved Premiers, damn it)

Carn the Arsenal!!!

But seriously stoked with my decision to go overseas this Sunday for 6 weeks. Won't have to watch the painful spectacle of a Collingwood premiership (it is done and dusted I'm afraid) and may also miss the aftermath of gloating toothless wankers calling up SEN. Although I think their excessive glee may just still be smouldering well into the new year.

What is it about arsenal. A lot of young blokes follow the arsenal. Is it the cannon on their emblem that attracts them ? You know happiness is a warm gun maybe.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
