Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

not sure whether sacked or retired, but a huge disappointment regardless. is still a bloody good player, and has been phenomenal over the years. sorry to see you go aker, you were a walking highlights package. unfortunately, also a walking headline.

What a joke, PC gone crazy. This is all the dogs need before that tiny window closes this year.

I have a feeling that the Bulldogs had no choice. If he kept opening his trap when he was constantly warned not to do it, then he forced the Dogs to act. Of course, it could be for something completely different but I think the leadership group has had a gutful.

Considering he was a chance for selection, something obviously happened today that forced his sacking.

Dont agree at all.

He breached the trust with the football club too many times - end of story. The Bulldogs could not have any more "leaks" out of their football club coming from this bloke. It doesn't matter if he is the best player on the list or not - a football club demands trust, end of story.

It's no great loss to the Dogs.

He has been ineffectual this year, and there are younger better players pushing for the spot in the team ahead of Acker.

A few years ago, he may have been the difference between the Dogs winning and not winning a flag, but not now.

Good move by the Dogs......if he wasn't getting a game, then he would be bleating in the newspaper every week about it in the lead up to the finals, and that's just another distraction the Dogs don't need.

If he had have shut up and not made it all about him all the time, he would still be there.

Agree. Aker has now burnt his bridges at 2 clubs in poor circumstances.

Agree. He was on a one year contract and they sacked two months early. Ho Hum.

It's all about Akker, he's done it at 2 clubs now.

BUT, I reckon the Bulldogs have stuffed up a bit. What, they can't deal with someone that whinges about wanting a game? Boohoo. Who cares?

What if someone gets injured? Johnson or Higgins go down on the eve of finals. I'd want an idiot with a big mouth that gets it done in finals as backup. And if he fails, they can then cut the cord instead of going too early.

I say all this based on what has been said up until now, of course there could be more to it.

I wouldn't.

Any track record is seven years old and Aker has struggled to make an impact at AFL and VFL. He is not a worthy replace for Johnson or Higgins.

I rather go into the finals without any idiots destroying club culture.

I don't know the specific circumstances of the sacking, I doubt if it's still directly related to the 'gay' comment - probably massive continuing personality clashes.

Aker is just too much his own man. Personally, I think he has not only been a brilliant player, but if you listened to his commentary on games and strategy, he is very thoughtful: I imagine he's a very intelligent bloke, but just not suited to team mentality or -more obviously- club culture. So ultimately a negative even destructive element, especially in a game like ours.

I doubt if we'll see him outside of media now, and unfortunately made into a clown, rather than a thinker. I can't see him in any administrative role. Perhaps he'd enjoy captain/coach in a decent country side ?

Farewell Aker, we've enjoyed the ride. Give us one last handstand :)

I don't disagree that Aker is a moron, but I know who I'd rather in the GF when given a choice between Aker or some untried kid.

Of course the Dogs may not need to replace injured players in finals, but it has happened before, and I reckon when you're so close to winning and at the same time, so close to having your window of opportunities close, you put up with [censored] if they can play (or take risks on guys like Barry Hall).

He's definitely been down on output this year, but he's exactly the sort who will pop up in a final with 4 goals and win you a game (Nick Davis style).

Still, not shocked the Dogs let him go. In the end he was never willing to learn from his mistakes or take club directions, so he has nobody to blame but himself. A brilliantly decorated career, and a champion player, who will be remembered mostly for having a big mouth. A real shame.

Because 2 more months is going to make a difference to 85 years of failure, bar 1.

No one in their current VFL team could step in and bust open a final, except Akker.

wasnt about what he said was the fact that he told the club that it was edited. The club stood by him taking him on his word, then it was found out nothing was edited without his permission thus embarrassing the club.

And incidents previous of course. That is my 2c

Sometimes you find 'trouble' but never buy it. Aker was a great footballer but ...

Thats the Key word, Was.

He's since let his tongue do the Twalking,,, instead of his feet. Maybe he should have taught his Tongue to kick & handball instead! He does stand on his head.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
