Thanks for the post...interesting to see who is there, obviously Beamer leads the way so Syliva follows! (Surprised Russian isn't with them!), others there, Garland, Jones, Trengove, Gysberts, Watts..great to see Tapscott, Blease, Fitzpatrick and Gawn.

What is the criteria for those that attend on the week off? Seems to be the younger guys but no Scully?

Tapscott is going to be a big solid unit...but that's enough on that topic otherwise I paying way too much attention to blokes with their tops off and I love em all but not going that far!

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Beamer's been taking the first year guys down there the last 3 years for some boxing training with his old boxing coach as a welcome to the club, get to know your new team mates, and 'HARDEN THE F*** UP' mid season camp during the week off. Did it of his on bat the first year, by the looks of things a few of the older guys were keen to get amongst it this year - which absolutely fantastic to see. Will hold the kids in good stead for the second half of the year.

Absolutely no idea why no sculls though

edit: spelling!

What's going on with Watts' stomach? He has some sort of bandage on it?

(hey, I'm allowed to look that closely! demon_cool.gif )

That is a <really> good question. The boy doesn't need any more pressure about anything, but I would love to know if that's a dressing over a wound... not sure what the op would be with a long dressing there though.

Casey have a game this week, perhaps Scully has requested a game, and Strauss has been a regular, the others are either first teamers, 'injured' or Fitzpatrick being eased into football

Yeah good point about Strauss, will be playing/training with Casey. Would've thought Fitzy in that case would have stayed behind, hope he plays this weekend as I am looking forward to seeing him out there.

From what you here about Skull it wouldn't surprise if he did ask for a game but not sure the FD will allow it. With the AFL/VFL ratio it would mean someone would have to go back to Casey two's also wouldn't it?

Probably protecting from infection or something - maybe a scratch from a boot on the weekend ???

Scully was probably recovering back in the gym after Trengove got an upper cut in. Who cares... :P

first time poster, long time reader... have a bit of inside knowledge around the club, so i'd thought i'd share that Tom Scully is not on the trip as he is getting his wisdom teeth out tomorrow

that is all :)

Poor kid, I wish him luck. That was second only in unpleasantness to breaking my knee. But he should be 100% right to go after the split round, which is the positive in all this.

Looksa bloody big surgical dressing - but if it was that he wouldn't be running like that so maybe some sort of cut or rash covering?

Interesting. I wonder how long that would keep him out of the team? Will they rest him for the next game as a precaution or is a week and a half long enough?

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
