Why's that, because he had a crap game?

I don't necessarily agree with Swampfox, but since Davey became our leading 'playmaker', we have not won a single game when he is on the angry pills. When I saw him give away that free yesterday on the wing, about two minutes into the game, I knew where the game was heading. He is allergic to niggling taggers and the whole team comes down with him.

Because he lacks discipline and goes missing when the heat is on. He saw Carazzo come to him and start niggling and his head dropped straight away. The only way he knows how to respond is to give away pointless free kicks.

Absolutely 100% spot on.

Davey has been playing for a long time, and has been getting close attention for years, and yet he still reacts like a 10 year old when somebody niggles him.

His behaviour yesterday was honestly pathetic for someone with his level of experience and someone who is in the leadership group. I've seen him do it in finals, and I've seen him do it during H&A matches.

Bailey dragged him numerous times yesterday and rightfully so. I'd consider dropping him this week for disciplinary reasons, if we weren't playing such a big important game. He set the worst example of anyone out on the field yesterday.

Jamar should have been best-on but gave away too many stupid free kicks.

6. Gysberts

5. Grimes

4. Jamar

3. Jetta

2. Morton

1. Green (would've geen higher but missed that crucial one early).

Moloney and Rivers good too.

We were their equals except for stupid ill-discipline (Jamar, Davey, Garland) and crucial missed goals (Green, Bennell, Bate)

Were Garland's frees against for ill-discipline? I don't remember any specific instances of him doing undisciplined acts this week.

I have noticed he gives away a lot of frees for in the back, crude tackles etc though. It's really disappointing because these often come off the back of some excellent pressure from him - e.g. he does all the hard work of keeping up with his opponent and harrassing and coralling and whatnot, then grabs the bloke around the neck when he gets the ball. That's not ill-discipline though, it's just a sloppy tackling technique.

Yep, and because he generally plays on smaller opponents, he ends up tackling high because he has height advantage over them.

Mind you, the stupid free kick in the backline at the start of the game was Warnock's fault, not Garland's.

Bloody Sultana got stuck into him and Warnock lost it.

The whole game was full of disappointing mistakes.

Which reminds me. Garland got done for hands in the back against Garlett I think. Fair dinkum. I know the hands in the back is against the rules. But Garland was stiff to be pulled up on one. Garland used his hands ever so gently - more for balance than anything. Result, shot on goal from 50.

Yet, nowadays, they have relaxed the rule with hands on the shoulders when going up for a mark. Spare me.

Despite having an OK game against Carlton, this is a testament to how Bruce is doing this year (i.e. poorly).

Lack of discipline = lack of self-control. Sloppy tackles and hands-in-the-back that were caused by a poor mental approach to the task, i.e. taking the easy option (using hands, tackling high) and not having the ability to restrain himself. Just like Davey is undisciplined for not being able to control his temper when niggled.

Please cast your votes after you've dried out - 6,5,4,3,2,1 ...

Bit late with this but in any case:

6 - Gysberts - how often did this 2nd gamer 'get busy' while others sat back - Davey?????? Will he ever work out how to get on with going at the ball when tagged - will also add that some others need to get over and help him in this situation.

5 - Jamar - good to see above the comment 'gave Kruezer a lesson' MK will be a fine player but IMO is a bit like Nik Nat when the media talk about him and every little thing he does is viewed as 'class' - IMO this game should hold Russian in good stead for an All-Aus spot.

4 - Bruce - I have been a bit critical of Bruce, my mind is not made up but was his best game of the year

3 - Morton - better and better each week and even as this game went on - is a huge kid and so much upside to him.

2 - Grimes - another solid performance from Frank - love him

1 - Junior - led the way again - would've probably been higher had we won which is a bad argument on my own opinion really!

Anyone that put Davey in...come on!

I agree he crumbles under a heavy tag. I think the coaching staff were trying to assist in breaking the tag by rotating him off the bench, more so than dragging him. I would want him out there this week.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
