Now now pringle, no need to shout. I think you might need a little lie down. The JW hysteria is starting to get to you.

Please forgive me for not looking at all 23 pages to see whether anyone else had made note of the 'broken record' thread that this is.

Sorry Artie. I do need a lie down. Just seen the same post so many times it was getting old. Fair enough though. If you hadn't read it (and lord knows it would be hard to do so), you wouldn't know.

but my point remains. People should be able to post what they want. This is an open forum. And as Guns n' Roses once said, to all those who oppose... well...

That isn't irony...

Verbal.

Verbal irony is a trope in which the intended meaning of a statement differs from the meaning that the words appear to express.

Situational.

Situational irony involves an incongruity between what is expected or intended and what actually occurs.

Literature.

a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.

b.

(esp. in contemporary writing) a manner of organizing a work so as to give full expression to contradictory or complementary impulses, attitudes, etc., esp. as a means of indicating detachment from a subject, theme, or emotion.

You're excused.

But it still isn't irony.

I'll forgive your confusion of irony as it is a very common problem.

Then by all means, dumb it down for us. Your quote out of the dictionary didn't help any.

I'm with rpfc, that ain't irony.

OK Reims I'll spell it out for you - posting to say there are too many posts relates directly the first defintion of irony as previously posted. Oh but that's right, your argument is somehow above the most accepted source of defintion for terms of the english language, being the dictionary.

Might have been listening to Alanis Morrisette, she doesn't know what it is either

And you gh obviously have no understanding of poetic licence...

nice call.

She probably wouldnt have argued the point as hard either.

Oh boy. Now you are going to make e look like some kind of 'elitist who uses language as a weapon' to paraphrase a previous topic. Which I'm not in this case, irony is an extremely 'tricky' (pun intended) thing. People make mistakes with it on a daily basis including myself. Just ask my brother who delights in pointing out my foibles.

But correct me if i'm wrong Arthur Dent, I'm fairly certain he intended his post to have the meaning his words expressed. "Haven't we all said enough already?" It's a subtle thing I know but also not ironic.

But anyway, boring, move on.......

Jack Watts is gonna be like super great I reckon

I too found it rather ironic that while AD was complaining about the size of the thread and stating in large font the number of posts, he was actually contributing one more to that number.

Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing how Jack can perform tonight with Miller there to hopefully take some of the heat off him. Regardless of what we think of him, I think there is a general perception in the footballing world that Miller can be a dangerous forward, so Port will have the dilemna of who to man up on, Miller or Watts. Hopefully he can boot a few this time.

Yes Hardtack, the irony was not lost on me as I posted it. Oh and look, I've just done it again... B)

Any idea how young Jack goes in the wet?

I'm excited to see how he goes in the humidity when the pill is like a bar of soap.

I reckon he'll go out and handle it like he's in the prison showers.

Not sure if this may help, but the day I watched him at Casey the ground was wet & muddy (sunny day)... He ended up with 4-2.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
