Had a quick chat to Sam Blease, says he will play this week in a Casey Practice match. Not sure if this has been reported or not.

Good to hear.

Not wishing to be a negative nancy, but given Blease's game was all about run and carry before the injury, do you guys think he will return the same player? I hope so of course... but it was a pretty major break by the sounds of things.

the forgotten man in my opinion. i hope he gets his body right, could be a wildcard this season.

what position will he take?

I was just thinking, Bailey is always saying, "when the players have played 50 games together", Blease, Strauss, Watts, Scully, Gysberts (maybe) and more have all played Metro together..

I read somewhere that he hasn't lost any of his pace which is good, it will still take him a while though to mentally get over it.

Spoke to him at the Bombers match and he said he felt he hadn't lost any of his speed or agility. Agreed it will take him time to get back to his best.

Yeah, I spoke to him as well last week and he is confident his speed and agility haven't been affected.

Interesting to note that while Sam is considered a speedy ball carrier, Jack Watts had him covered in the draft camp results. (Note Blease's standing vertical jump result!)

There are many players that can run fast but this does not necessarily transfer into game speed. On the games I saw of Blease in u18 he certainly does translate to game speed and he knows how to use this to effect both offensively and defensively. He really could be the x factor to our emerging midfield brigade.

Yeah agree, he also seems to have the ability to hit a contested situation at speed like Scully

The current injury list lists him as ankle 1-2 weeks.

Odd?

Why? Have they ever been right??!

would you like to cover him in cotton wool and just wait a few years for him instead.

Play Blease, the only way for him to get over the injury (beside the full recovery) is just games under his belt, be it Casey or the Dees, after a few games, his confidence will be right up and he will be a force with the rest of the young kids.... Same should apply to Watts, he will be awesome in a few years, will be worth the wait. :)

if he's fit...then we should play him,,,it will be good to have some more pace injected into the side.

also sounds like he's going to be a small big man with a vertical leap like his.

bring on round 1

great to hear, he must have had a bloody awful year

have you noticed a considerable change in his body size since he arrived at the club (or is that just people talking him up)?

I've never been a big fan of the Youtube highlight packages but I have to say I was very excited by the vision of Blease prior to him being drafted. The Vic Metro game against WA had me salivating and I was more than happy when Barry read his name out. From memory he only had 12 or 13 touches in that game but every single one of them had an impact and he kicked a couple of very nice sausage rolls. The most impressive part was his willingness to continue working hard (Scully-like) once he'd disposed of the ball and his zest, despite his size, in the chasing and tackling department. Like all our youngsters, he'll need time but it's his debut that I'm looking forward to most.

I probably need to see him live to see his workrate but i did like that play where he attacked the stoppages, picked up the ball off his shoelace clean as a whistle at speed. Very clean hands.

Hope to see him mid year. We need speed in our team.

Ideally we want Scully, Blease, Strauss, Bennell, Watts to make it as they are all what you would call 'express'.

If our high draft picks come off we should end up with a very fast team.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
