Very suprised would have been there at 18 they must rate him very highly what do we know about him??

Tall midfielder who accumulates possessions and uses the ball well, but not as damaging as a Tapscott or Davey type. Not a genuine inside mid; rather, one that can do both well. Not super quick, but runs all day.

Champion junior footballer who plied his trade in the Eastern Football League (Norwood, I think). Won a pile of league best and fairest and entered the Eastern Ranges program as soon as he could.

AIS/AFL graduate, Vic Metro representative in 2008 and 2009, TAC Cup Team of the Year in 2008 as a bottom ager.

He's very highly rated and was considered a near certain first-rounder by many. High second-round at worst. We took him earlier than was widely expected but I don't think we've taken him earlier than his talent merited.

From the Draft event Connoley said they were going to toss up between Lucas and Gysberts at pick 11. I want to know why they picked Gysberts above Lucas bc Lucas was widely rated higher.

welcome jordan! a dee supporter to!!

Read somewhere he is a Filth supporter!

Can someone tell us about this kid?

He considers himself to be most like Jack Grimes in terms of how he plays.

Considered an introvert too. Which is the opposite to a Taylor / Thorp, so fine by me. ;)

An inside mid with superb kicking and handballing skills

Watching his youtube footage, his tackling looks a prominent feature and I fancy it would be one the would impress the recruiters.

What was the injury the kept him out of the testing at draft camp?

Is that Gysberts highlights package or a Scully highlights package?

Not sure about this kid, but gees Scully is a gun!

My jaw hit the ground when this one was announced, I still can't believe it. Talia? Black? Lucas? No, Gysberts! I hope the kid has skills, massive expectations on the number 11 pick rated by almost everyone as a 2nd to 3rd rounder.

Third round? Who have you been reading?

Gysberts has long been considered a chance to go in the first round. He's been an elite talent all the way through his junior career. Don't let your 'disappointment' colour the reality that he's an exceptional footballer.

Not so much disappointment as it is shock, there was a buffet of talent on offer at 11 and Gysberts is a name that came from way out in the left field. You are probably right though, I am most likely misinformed. I'm just hoping he is every bit as good as those other names I was expecting to hear.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
