By next year will will have 13 top 20 draft picks running around on our side.

This will be the most number of top 20 picks for any side.

Our future looks bright and 13 is our lucky number ;)

2003 - 3 Sylvia 5 Mclean

2004 - 13 Bate 15 Dunn

2005 - 12 Jones

2006 - 12 Frawley

2007 - 4 Morton 14 Grimes

You can add 2009 Pick 18 if we don't trade it away.

What about Brent Maloney,I think he was originally picked as No.4 -2002 draft and then swapped for Jolly as our 15th pick,re the Brad Ottens affair in 2004.

He might have been pick 4 but I'm pretty sure it was in the PSD, but he did cost us a top 20 pick so I think it would be fair to add him. Where as Meesen didn't cost us a first round pick so I wouldn't accept him.

Bell and Nick Smith could also be included.

Nick Smith is longtime gone-we are talking current players

I think the OP is making reference to the new crop of leaders, not players who were drafted 8 years ago. None of the players mentioned in the OP has 100% proved themselves as genuine match-winners (excluding Brock in the 06 final against the Saints) and leaders, but they will be.

The amount of top 20 or top 21 picks (a lot of hope in Maric) is only relevant because that is where most of the stars of the game are grabbed.

We haven't been great at developing these good players into stars of the game in the past and it is ironic that our only 'star' is off the RL and and most exciting young player was nabbed in the PSD.

But with two development coaches, or one-and-a-half with Williams being the midfield line coach aswell as DC with O'Donnell, we are desparately trying to improve in this area.

The development side of things as far as the picks go hasn't been up to the standard of the superior clubs. Other clubs - whether it is resources, whatever - seem to devlop these players at a young age and they burst onto the scene quicker. We need to fix this area pronto while we are picking the better picks now.

After debt-demolition is considered a success, should MFC continue to collect money for a new fund?

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
