Sandilands available?

A big article on the Hawks wanting to make a play for Sandilands...if it is a move designed to get a premiership in the next couple of years then maybe we arent the ideal option...however, we should have much better abiility to bargain with the dockers...pick 18 + a player? We should also easily accomodate a good salary offer.

Gun ruckman...anyone interested?

Too old.

By the time the rest of our list catches up you'll have a Peter Everitt at Sydney situation...

Definately, I imagine the player would have to be pretty decent for them to go for a pick 18 + player deal.

Freo would have their eye on our second pick if he was going to be traded, and rightly so. I would give away our pick 2 for their second pick (18) and Sandilands, but then I doubt they would go for that either.

No way. As has been said by the time we are ready to challenge for a flag he will be retiring. And besides how much influence does he really have on a game? I think his type are a dying breed. You need mobile, hard running, high jumping ruckman these days and he will struggle in the future. You can exploit his lack of mobility and speed by having his opponent sprint down deep into the forward line when there is a turnover in the back half.

Stef Martin is the future as he has all these attributes other than the hard running and after a few more pre-seasons this will come.

So he turns 27 this year.

pick 18 would be appropriate.

Well you've obviously got different priorites to me. There's no way known I would give up pick 18 for a 27 year old, despite his prowess. This is the last uncompromised draft for potentially 4 or 5 years. Unless a (much younger) absolute star comes onto the market (which won't happen), pick 18 goes nowhere.

Suprise Suprise ... have a look who Aaron Sandilands manager is .... Colin Young.

He has a habbit of trying to shop his players around to get better deals for them at their club.

See: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...07-2722,00.html

Correct on Colin Young. It's not Freo shopping Sandilands around, he is a required player. Young just wants a better contract for his client and more money for himself.

If it was Freo shopping around they would be eyeing our pick 2. And that will not happen.

Sandilands would go for much more than pick 18. Very effective player, and if our list was close to a premiership and we needed a quality ruckman, i'd jump at the chance.

But we're not, so moot point.

I don't think we are in a good enough position to be a player in trade week. We may be to trade a Miller, Rivers or Jones for a pick between 35 and 45 at best but that's about it. Our best chance of getting a reasonable AFL player is in the PSD.

I would be interested to know the contract status of these players who have had problems at some point this year. MORTON (RICH), MARIC (ADEL) and SALOPEK (PORT).

Agree on the Pre season Draft pick. That's our chance to get a reasonable AFL player for next to nicks. Hopefully whoever it is - is as good as Liam Jurrah.

While you're looking at the status of those players, how about....Harbrow from Bulldogs. I think we might need a quick small defender in the side to replace Whelan. Not sure if Cheney is the man.

If Robbo wants to play on - which he stated he does - perhaps a trade?

Heard the latest from Carltank supporters today. Deal is - Scully to Carltank, Fevola to Freo, Pavlich to Dees. My answer we are after long term greatness not short term fix its. I don't like all this talk from Carlton people about Scully.

Tell them to get their hand(s) off it.

And How do these evil carlton vultures plan to enforce this trade??

The AFL has moved on from paper bags of cash under the table.

Carlton should just shut it.

You goose. Robbo is back in this week. He has kicked over 420 goals and missed a pre season. He is more than capable than VFL standard, it is a suggested trade by me as these threads tend to do from time to time. The Dogs have enquired about him previously, they need options.

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
