Get behind Don

Yencks

Recommended Posts

With the arrival of this very sad news, it is important that we give the great man some space and get behind Don and the rest of the board, as well as Schwabby.

I have complete trust in these people but they need our support now more than ever.

We are in very good hands.

I have no doubt that Don Mclardy will be a very good president, whether in the short term or in the long term.

Time to give Jimma some space with his family to recover and get behind Don.

I have full faith in him and Guy Jalland, along with the rest of this board and also in Connolly and Schwab to keep us pointed in the right direction.

I know no one will have the same presence is Jimmy but the legacy he will temporarily have left behind over the coming period will not be forgotten with a new person in charge.

Welcome to the top job!!

I'm not convinced he's the man for the job. What a farked thing to happen. Is this club ever going to get lucky again?

Who knows.

The best thing Jimmy has done was to get us all on the same page and all heading in the same direction, bringing everyone togethor.

The only way this will continue to happen is if we show Mclardy our full support as President.

I would say we got lucky with Jim Stynes being prepared to take on the club 12 months ago. The MFC could well be in its last year if it was not for him. We were seriously close to extinction. People don't realise how close we were. The turn around in a short period of time is simply outstanding and amazing. We are indeed lucky to have been saved. We are indeed lucky to have Big Jim.

Get well quickly Jimmy!!

You are a great man!

Unfortunately the "Anything is possible" motto cant be upheld without Jim at the helm. He had a passion that is unsurpassed by these other silver spooner board members who have other priorities in life. Stynes was able to get everyone to believe and was the driving force behind all the good work . I feel this is the beginning of the end.

Im not a spiritual person but we did enter some strange dimension of karma when Norm Smith got sacked, I believe that.

For goodness sake, get over yourself!! this is not about the MFC, this is about Jim and his family. Ludicrous statements like yours have no place on these forums at this time. If you have ever dealt with this sort of affliction, you will know that at this time everything else becomes irrelevant and it becomes all about the idividual. And anyway, a great man like Jim would cringe to hear such pathetic utterances.

The only way to be convinced Roost It, is to do the job required. Jimmy will fight it. Don will get the support required.

I actually think that Jimmy will still have a bit of say on things.

But agree we need to support Don.

Agree.

This post is about Don and the club. I've no doubt Stranga has Jimmy in his thoughts. The fact is Jimmy's work is only half done and he is the leader this club so desperately neede and had, albeit for possibly to short a time. I wish him all the best, this club won't survive without a leader at the helm.

Stranga or 'Strange'?

Why talk about Stynes in a past sense, he'll be back.

Jim is a great person going through a difficult time.

The club is thankful for his ONGOING work and we appreciate it.

The board's work got a little harder but they should be able to continue their good work.

Tough times happen.

We can throw up our hands and curse our luck to the gods or you can offer support and advice to secure the future of the MFC.

If Jim has faith in the people he is delegating to then that is good enough for me. Go Dees!

An extremely offensive and ill informed reply. My point has nothing to do with Jim on a personal level, im devastated for Jim and his family and have done nothing but think about him all day.

Im actually really disappointed in your reaction to my comments as I am making a point about the failings of previous boards and my doubts and concerns about the ability of a board going forward without Jim at the helm.

As far as i know this was a topic about the the board going forward so i was just airing my views but im really put off posting on this forum as your accusations of me being disrespectful to Jim Stynes has made me sick in the stomach.

I agree with that, Don McLardy has done lot more to help save this club than he is given credit for, if you want verification of that ask Cam Schwab. The supporters should get right behind him until Jimma returns, he will do a great job.

Don is one of the most fiercely passionate Melbournefc members I have come across. He has put his time, money and effort at the club's disposal for years. He has helped introduced some brilliant initiatives to the club including Mates of Melbourne. He has excellent business skills with his own insurance broking business. He has excellent connections. He isn't all talk - he takes decisive action and enthusastically encourages others to do the same.

In short: Is Don, Is Good! We're in good hands.

Agree totally. Don is not only a passionate Melbourne supporter but he also has the financial smarts and contacts. Do not underestimate what Don has done behind the scenes but also what he is capable of doing being our stand-in President until the end of the year. He will continue the momentum. We are in good hands. Notwithstanding he does however need the continued support of all the Board members to pitch in and do that extra that will be required.

It's true...apparantly he played a major part in the debt demolition campaign last year and will of course play a similar role in this years campaign.

Spot on. Absolute tool of a post unless it can be backed up by some statement of facts or evidence. IMO grandstanding of the worst kind (i.e. anonymous internet)

Good luck Don. As was the case with Jim all hands on deck here. You say, we'll do!

I don't it's just what I think. I mean that's what we generally post isn't it? Our thoughts on all matters MFC. Jim was working pretty much fulltime on this club, I doubt Don has that kind of spare time. I'm in no way slighting his input or efforts thus far, or him for that matter. I just believe this club needs a really strong leader of the calibre of Stynes.

I'm not so why it's pathetic or defeatist to suggest this club hasn't had any luck, let's face it, it hasn't.

And quite clearly it is a farked thing to happen so shove your post right where it fits.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
