Today's paper, I was very interested to see Connolly speaking about our possible team in 2012.

NB: he spoke about defenders, midfielders and forwards, so I have the positions in from that.

FB: Garland, Martin, Bennell

HB: Grimes, Frawley, Strauss

C: Morton, McLean, Blease

HF: Bate, Jurrah, Davey

FF: Maric, Watts, Wonaeamirri

R: Jamar, Sylvia, Jones

Interchange: Rivers, Cheney, Warnock, Dunn, Jetta, Petterd, Spencer, pick 1 (Scully), pick 2 or 3 (Butcher), (+ possibly 5 other first and second picks we will draft between now and 2012)

Players Connolly didn't mention, but imo could perhaps still be around come 2012:

- P.Johnson, Miller, Moloney, Buckley, McNamara, McKenzie

Do people reckon he's pretty spot on? Looks pretty good imo.

I think bennel is too creative to play at BP. wouldnt mind him playing on the wing or hbf

Brad Green will still be around in two-and-a-half years. He just turned 28 in March. Unless he has a massive drop of form or serious injury, I can't see why he couldn't play until the age of 31 or 32.

I would be disappointed if at least 3 or 4 of 2009 draft were not part of the starting 18 and some lesser current players are battling for the interchange. Some of the current players mentioned will not be around if we are serious about improving.

I would expect and hope that the 2012 side is different from the side proposed by the author.

As the article in the Age said:

"selecting a team for 2012 is quite problamatic when you consider that draft picks 1, either 2 or 3 from the 09 nat. draft will almost certainly be regulars, but we don't know who they are or what positions they play"

So obviously the team is looking at who will be around by 2012 who is currently at the club

I very much doubt Jamar will still be our ruckman in 2012, in fact i really hope he isn't. Also I think Miller could show a lot in a stronger forward line.

I honestly don't believe Warnock will be in our Best 22 in three years time, the upside of Garland, Martin and Frawley will see them go well ahead of Warnock over the next few years.

Buckley seems to be a forgotten man.

My thoughts exactly. I was hoping so much that he was able to play 15+ games this year and show why he can be part of our future. Hopefully he can do that next year. I have loved what I have seen of him but I have not seen enough, but I have the faith in him that he is up to the standard. He has the confidence, the pace and the abilities to "break/run the lines" (most overused term in footy just about!) and has that spark that we so dearly lack.

buckly is overrated on this site. we are hardly missing someone that turns the ball over in our back half at the moment or gets caught trying to do to much every time he gets it. i would say that's the last thing we need atm.

I cannot understand where 'Warnock's not part of the best 22' mentality comes from?

He is easily our best performed backman for the past 18 months.

Is it because he's older then the others? He is 18 months older then Stef and everyone acknowledges that he is part of our future.

Warnock's my first pick in my back 6.

Maybe his disposal hasn't been forgotten. Has pace and is willing to take the game on at times, but needs to be better with the ball (and work hard defensively on a consistent basis).

What do people think of Targetting Collingwoods Rusling with our PSD pick? If he is out of contract which i think he is, we could easily front end a contract to possibly lure him. He seems quite injury prone and we would have to pay him more than he is worth in his first year but 'Who dares wins'

The pace and marking ability of the forward line would be unmatched and most are also more than capable if the ball hits the ground . We would easily have the quickest forward line ever assembled. Watts, Rusling Davey and Jurrah are all apparantly excellent shots at goal too. It is also possible that Davey would end up playing on the oppositions 3rd fastest defender.

Johnson would obviously need some work at full forward but he wouldnt be the main target and he can make a contest when the ball is bombed in quickly and we would have a variety of crumbers at his feet.

Johnson and Martin could also pinch hit in the ruck so we wouldnt need to play more than 1 ruckman. Allowing us to play an extra midfielder off the bench to help with rotations ensuring we could really run out games and grind down our opponents.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
