It is definately only 20,000.

We may not even get that.

Yeah I Thought It was, There will be 20,000, easily. I`d be very disappointed if we get under 24,000.

Oh yeah, and the weather is not an excuse If you decide not to go. If you can`t go, thats ok, But if your pussying out then thats a weak effort. C`mon Dees this is a very winnable match.

18,973.

If we did indeed get 23,657 last time we played Adelaide then we're in trouble considering this is a Sunday twilight match.

At least it's not being televised on FTA - the poor weather would have more of an impact if that was the case.

We're very fortunate we defeated Richmond and I hope we can break even.

Agree.

But you missed a few up the back of the Southern stand.... B)

16000

Crappy weather + 4:40 start=Low attendance. Why do you think we are playing at this time on a Sunday? Coz they know a team that gets high attendances would yell and scream at playing at 4:40 on a Sunday.

Could very well be under 20k.....

Twilight games are so stupid, especially at the MCG, especially on a 14 degree day, just imagine how cold it will be at night. The average fan won't be coming to this game, hell im sure even a few die hards will give it a miss.

This always irks me, why is the top level open for games against interstate sides?

Surely if it was closed, we'd need less patrons to start making a profit, and the crowd would become more intimate (look more sizeable).

Win-win I'd have thought

Less than 20,000? no way. My guess: 28,351

Coming off a great win the Red and Blue mob will be up in full numbers

Let's be realistic here. Predicted temperature on Sunday is 14. Showers also predicted. This match doesn't begin until 4.40pm. The opposition is Adelaide. The home team is Melbourne, who, despite having won their previous match, still don't draw high crowds to Sunday home matches.

It will be sad, but I'm guessing 19,450.

The reason they open the 2nd & 3rd level is because after you take out the reserved seating for Demons supporters and the reserved seating for opposition supporters, then take the MCC & AFL members there arent many left. The second level is also generally the Corporate sections.

I am gonna put my balls on the line and say 31,000

Melbourne coming off a great win and full of blind confidence.

Had Green been playing i would have said we could have pushed them, but without him, were in for a solid loss.

OMG Rusty!............

I agree. Reduced crowds because of bad weather happens too often. It might be reality, but I don't think it will happen this time. As for all these 16,000-18,000 estimates, it takes bad form to get those sorts of crowds, not weather.

OK now we know what the day's like. Perfect for footy (remember the old days in the rain and mud?). I'm an optimist, i'm sticking with both my predictions.

GO DEES!!

Not to discourage people, but here's the bureau's forecast:

Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers with local hail and thunder. Winds northwesterly averaging up to 55 km/h, increasing up to 80 km/h during the morning then tending westerly in the early afternoon. Winds gradually easing into the evening.

So the winds will die down as the match goes on. The 'rain' has been downgraded to 'scattered showers'. It'll be cold, but that's not enough to stop me.

Yep, everyone needs to drink a big glass of HARDEN THE F' UP and get themselves to the game.

Rug up, and move to an undercover spot if you don't want to get wet. Nobody has ever died from a bit of rain or wind, and given that we never get to play under lights these days, this is as good as.

Besides, as if you have something better to do on a Sunday afternoon anyway!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
