First coaching departure of 2009

1/2 time, game 1 of the season. I think nearly a foregone conclusion. Can't see them turning this around. Skills still diabolical after 5 years of rebuilding. Most over-rated coach in the AFL. I was actually hoping they would do well, but I'm bitterly disappointed by this effort. 5 Ben Cousins' wouldn't make any difference.

11 first half goals to Carltank from Tiger errors and turnovers. This is a record.

Don't blame the Coach when senior players can't kick 20 meters to a team mate and drop basic marks. They have been pathetic so far yet that is clearly not their true form. If it is then he is gone.

Wouldn't have minded Mitch Robinson at pick 35. Bennell looks a gem though.

Richmond are terrible. There list is easily the worst in the AFL. 6 key players over the age of 30 there going to have to rebuild again.

Coach has had 5 years to put a list together and teach them skills Redleg. Who else to blame???

Wasn't thinking that before the game, but I haven't really watched opposition teams over the last few years because we've been going so bad, I just was sick of footy, except for 2 dees games a week & the occaisional TAC cup state game.

If Wallace is to be let go after this season, then I'd do it Mid season telling him we won't renew your contract. Whilst doing this I'd be well on the way to interveiwing other candidates with a veiw of hiring them for the 2nd half of 2009 so to give the new coach a head start into the list assessment & drafting period.

The Tiges are going backwards with poor foot skills & an apparent lack of structure.

Ugh, not only are they terrible, but they are letting the scum from Carlton smash them.

Same old Richmond really, their best players in Richo and Brown are getting none of it because their midfield is crap, and their backline is so bad our forwards might even kick 100 against them.

Now poor Benny has gone and done a hammy. Oh dear!

After 5 years Redleg, the Coach and the player concerned are accountable.

Their medical staff deserve a huge spray for letting Cousins back on in the last quarter. Ping...hamstring gone and now gone for a 3 to 4 weeks. Oh dear.

Not doing yourself any favours with that assessment.

Not doing yourself any favours with that assessment.

Why not?

Richmond's list in terms of personal might not seem that bad, but they'll never win a premiship as it is to uneven. Basically there older players are going to be gone before there younger brigade e.g. Cotchin, Delidio and co come through. Melbourne is much closer to winning a premiship than Richmond, thus they have the worse team in the league.

I think Neita and Rhino are both right. If you had to say which team -Richmond or Melbourne- had a better chance of winning the premiership in 2009, you'd go with Richmond. But neither have a realistic chance, and in a few years time all of Richmond's key players will be gone with no clear replacements in sight (not saying they dont have some good kids, but they dont have ready replacements for Richo, Brown etc), while Melbourne at least have a core group of players coming through at about the same time.

Richmond arent the worst side in the AFL right now, but their list is probably in the worst shape.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
