It occurs to me that with all of this extra sponsorship cash coming in, wouldn't it be great for the club to have another crack at the Debt Demolition. With The Governments cash injection coming out to us all over the next month, what a good way to spend it!

Any thoughts??

My thoughts are that I don't understand what you are proposing.

My thoughts are that while it may seem like a good idea to ask for more money from supporters when they have it (like now, sort of), they may be resentful of a second "Debt Demolition" coming so soon after the first.

What is needed now is a focus on a positive future. We have played the "desperately poor" card, now we play the "we're on the way up" card, asking for a handout from supporters is not part of that card.

Agree.

You can only rattle the tin once with good effect. Stynes and Co have done that well.

We need to promote the positive and hopefully on the field we see further evidence of that.

The Supporters and Board have done a lot of work already. It is now time for the players to strut their stuff , as they are being well paid, win a few games put in some top efforts. Then the money will roll in.

No. This is where the players show their stuff to generate more income from the fans in memberships and merchandise. The tin rattle is finished for now.

No.

Instead they offer members $200 raffle tickets......

Yeah, I got that phone call yesterday!!!

Never again - and thank god for that

I wouldn't be surprised if there's another campaign (albeit on a smaller scale) some time this season.

No.

I don't think it's a new thing - they've done that the past couple of years, haven't they?

Oh yeah that has been going for a while now, but it is still a continual source for cash.

100% right!

Membership and merchandise!

Our merchandising department needs an overhaul though. It is shikes! We are losing out on alot of money here.

They need to take a look at what the US Sports put out there!

It will make a huge difference to our financial situation if they can get it right. HUGE!

Sure, but so are a number of things - memberships, merchandise, etc.

My point was that the raffle tickets - or any other similar 'source of cash' - aren't 'instead' of a debt demolition 'tin-rattle'.

Oh sure, these are almost concurrent to the debt demolition.......

i didnt buy a raffle ticket, but i did give the guy my mums email, mobile and address so he can help make her get a membership.

but in response to the thread, i think if they are doing any sort of advertising/promoting at the moment, it should be for memberships

The Debt Demolition is ongoing. How many people selected the option of a monthly direct debit until the debt is erased? I did.

I don't think there should be another one, members threw A LOT of cash at the club last year, and there are plenty of opportunities to keep throwing cash at the club. Memberships, merchandise, raffles, player sponsorship, game attendance, attending club functions, supporting hankook & kaspersky etc. etc.

I was privileged to be at the club's Debt Demolition evening last year.

The actual presentation was spectacular and I'm sure that many supporters would be happy to come along to a similar function and contribute to the club.

I think it could work in its own right and therefore if its promotion were focussed in the direction of providing entertainment for the members at a cost which they could willingly pay for then we could have a winner.

I agree however, that it shouldn't be focussed on the tin rattling aspect.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before...but what chances RudeBoy of getting the band together and putting on a special concert? (I admit I have no idea of how hard/easy or practical that would be).

Agree DT our merch is 2nd rate to say the least. Most of the stuff I wouldn't buy for my blind bed ridden grandpa (He is a blues supporter so I do buy him stuff every now and again, he doesn't even know he is wearing dees gear!!!) The site is looking a lot better but is still slow to load and some of the products just scream are you serious.. the new garden gnome? They have the 3-peat in the 50's WEG poster and the 2007 team poster??????

There is one thing on there I'd buy, the FUBU hoodie.

at the Bentleigh club? Maybe Jurrah can get on the guitar as well...
