Hopefully we can make it to 30,000 this year.

It's not hopefully, we need to get to 30,000. That what the club has apparently budgeted for. We we can definately do it, those who are on the fence need to get on board, because if they are waiting for the team to become strong before signing up then we may not be around for long enough!

Well done to all those in the membership department.

New little devil just signed on...my little girl's not born yet, but never let minor details get in the way of the big picture!

Go Dees

Unborn children probably make up our highest percentage of junior membership, because at that stage of their life they really don't know any better and have little choice but to be a Melbourne member

I think we can achieve 32,000 this coming season.

Personally I think will nudge 40,000 members this year. Yes, some of those will be sympathisers, but that's fine, one in all in I say. After that we'll hopefully start to sell memberships on our performances.

Absolutely Roost!

Though we'll need it to cover the cost of Bennel

 nice

I think we'll get over 35K at least, judging by the supporters I've spoken to who are usually apathetic but have now been prompted to sign up by our plight.

That would be closer to impossible than a miracle. Wouldn't it be great though. It would make it hard for the AFL to ignore us.

North have got 40k plus members and the AFL takes them only a little more seriously than MFC.

I hope when MFC gets 40+k members I hope it is sustainable and not a one off like North.

North got 34,000 members last year, not 40k<.

And many of them were sympathy members. North did well to get from 21,000 members to 34,000 members in a season, the true test is if they can sustain it.

Great effort so far. There should be a huge advertisement in THE AGE every day or weekend!

Great Idea and have it so it changes like the membership level on the MFC website. Make the new members feel like they are making a daily/weekly difference.

building momentum towards 2009

It's just life. Slow down, walk out side(preferably not on a bust street),smile and just suck it in.

Don't forget to breathe out at the end

I wonder where they're at with their numbers.

Checking their website now, very odd that it's still "kangaroos.com.au." I'd have thought they'd change that.

According to their website, North are sitting on 2,800.

Combine a poor 2008 finish and the loss of sympathisers and I doubt they'll crack 30,000 next year.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
