It looks like, in some of the instances, legitimate domains/web sites have been compromised and the whoevers have been creating subdomains within them to launch their dodgy sites from

I don't know what sort of solution there is other than blocking posts by content or restricting new accounts by IP/location (unless they're accessing from local compromised machines)

I'm actually looking forward to seeing what Nasher thinks/has planned as he seems a really switched on bloke

Guys,

It annoying everyone.

Nasher advised that they are caused by random spambots that dump rubbish on the site.

The techies are working on upgrading the spam filters to prevent them popping up.

The Admin and mods are deleting them as soon as we see them.

Thanks for your patience and thanks for the PMs from posters who discover when they arise.

I've also been away so we've been one mod short.

Hopefully the spam stops soon... and yes, thank you for the 186 PMs I received in my absence ;)

Here's an excerpt from our Code of Conduct (as amended):

Finally, any unauthorised advertising material placed on this site will incur an advertising fee of A$1,000.00 per advertisement plus GST and will be billed to the advertiser even if the advertising post in question is subsequently removed by a Moderator in the course of carrying out his/her duties as a Moderator. By signing up as a member of Demonland you hereby acknowledge your liability to bear the cost of such advertising and to pay the amount due within seven (7) days of billing.

The tax invoices are already on their way out to Torofluro and Rasselfarek as we speak.

Don't stop them!

Finally i have a chance to purchase 'sneakers' and 'family guy porn' while reading about the Demons!

Its combining two of my favourite loves!!

W_J, that is fantastic!

Nicely done!

With all due respect to the administrators of this site, that fee is nothing more than an idle threat unless you are actually prepared get the lawyers involved when these knobs inevitably fail to cough up the cheese. It may be enough to deter genuine posters, but not idiots who otherwise have no interest in the site.

Also, I'm sure you're aware that legal contracts cannot be formed retroactively, so you cannot bill those two prats if it was not ammended before they posted their advertisements.

...yes, I am studying accounting/law

Surely a stiffer signup process is the solution.

Your joke detector is clearly broken.

And I believe Whispering_Jack is actually a lawyer, but don't hold that against him. ;)

Obviously...

Although you'll forgive me for my sillyness considering that paragraph IS included in the code.

Nonetheless, my suggestion is still valid. Perhaps a mod-approval system for new posters? There can't be more than 4-5 signups per day max.

I'm going to upgrade the forum software over the next two days, which apparently has an improved registration process that blocks this stuff (I'd do it sooner, except I'm too damn busy with work). It's well overdue anyway. If that doesn't work, I'll look at instigating a 'wait' period, or perhaps a system whereby your first forum post has to be moderator approved, and once that's approved then you can post what you like.

We've also got two new mods coming on board too.

So sorry folks, this problem will be sorted. And believe me, it's annoying us as staff just as much as it is for the readers.

I love it. I doubt you will ever see the money, but I hope you do! Perhaps you should put up the price - especially for porn!

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
