I seen him in the same game and I thought he was OK.

Ive probably watched him near on half a dozen times to date.. all the whiles coming away about as excited as one is toward unflavoured blacmange !! On one hand is/could be quite capable...on other he seems about excited about it all as the previously mentioned dessert !! I dont get him

bring him in.

Some players do better in the AFL than VFL.

Maybe he is one of those.

I agree Bring him in-Play him for a good period of time thus getting an idea of what to work on in the off season. Melbourne chased him hard so there must be something that caught them.

Handing out positions is hardly a way to bring toughness back to a club, we must make players fight to not only claim their jumper, but do it proud.

I don't want to see it handed out for the sake of it. If Jamar's right, make him ruck a full game, see how he copes with that.

Would much rather see Petterd get a game, i think he has class and it sounds like he's been playing well

There are big raps on his athletic ability, and he's got some good hight on his but he needs to show some good ability in the ruck before he can be considered a major part of our future.

In saying that Stef Martin's only being going for 2 or 3 years, so hopefully Meesen can start to show something soon. He is certainly a project player, i say give him a crack if White's not right.

I agree.

Slightly off-topic, I wonder how Meesen feels about our overtures to Warnock.

I doubt at this stage that Meesen is under any illusions about where his footy is at. Footy clubs tend to be quite frank with their players.

im sure no one cares what meesan thinks about whether warnock comes or not. if you cant play well for sandy you dont have a say in the matter.

I have seen him a couple of time and just cant get my head around him being a ruckman... he looks like an over sized utility, played back forward and on the wing. amusingly for the amount of times I have seen sandy this year and the pre season game against the dog I can only recall once or twice where I saw him actually in the center square at a ball up so maybe there is a plan outside of rucking for him?

Posted

Give him a crack and lets see what he can do. There's only 2 games to go for shits sake. There is no shame in giving a kid a jumper and saying have a crack son and show me why you can be an AFL footballer.

And thats it in a nutshell.

You must earn the rite to wear the red and blue.

You`d think Pettard had earn`t a crack but i feel White might get it.

Its got nothing to do with bringing toughness back into the Club but a fact of reality with both White and PJ on the injury list.

Jamar cant ruck a full game and given the speed at which the game is played now, its unreasonable and unrealistic to do so.

Meesen only gets a game out of circumstance as we need to have a back up ruckman for the game. It just makes it soooo important that we get our hands on Warnock at seasons end.

If we short a ruckman, I just dont see the use in bringing Petterd up. If Petterd is fit and in form then he should be given a smaller players role. It would be great to see him back.

Doesn't deserve a game on the back of one performance, but I'd rather him ruck than Martin.

Agree.

If we dont have White and PJ, who do we ruck .......Weetra?

A case of circumstance rather than form. He has shown nothing so far but we will need someone to give Jamar a spell from the ruck.

Given the state of the year and MFC bigger aims I am not concerned.

I doubt at this stage that Meesen is under any illusions about where his footy is at. Footy clubs tend to be quite frank with their players.

Agree. And given what Meesen has put up so far I find it hard to be sympathetic to his cause.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
