Green > o'Keefe

O'Keefe is severely overrated.

Would do nothing in a crap team.

Unlike Green who shone this season.

That may be true, but the greater football community certainly don't see it that way...

AA gurnseys, and premiership medallions seem to count so much more to the great unwashed...

It would be hard to go to Sydney's trade table and argue your point given ROK's decorations...

Disagree. Green shone this season compared to the rest of our players, not compared to the competition. O'Keefe is still a better player, and probably had just as good a 2008 without reaching his best.

Apparently they announced on Essendon Green wants to go to Collingwood. Way to pick the worst possible option Brad.

Oh well, Green + pick 17 to the Pies for their pick 11.

That is the ultimate betrayle if true!!

He will become one of my most hated IF TRUE!

Try SEN, not Essendon.

We should do a deal with Freo and allow Green and Warnock to go into the PSD. We pick up Warnock and they can have Green.

I am in the office and have had no news on the trade today.

I received an email which suggested, Green to Sydney, O'Keefe to Hawthorn and the Hawks pick 16 to the Dees.

Has anyone heard anything?

So we lose Green and move ahead 6 places in return? I hope we do a little better than that...

Not bad Mo, it would be a good outcome, just wonder would the weagles be a fly in the ointment there?

Try again if you think Pies lose out in that trade.

What trade? There is no trade. Pies are keeping pick 11.

LMAO. Just realised i wrote that, WTF was i thinking??

if we were to do that deal with collingwood it would be a clear indication that the MFC cannot afford to pay Green the money he wants which then tells me that the demons are in real strife.. more than i first thought!!!!

that deal does nothing for us except ease some salary pressure!!!

No its not... it smply means we place a different value on Green going forward and in light of our teams expectation during the period of the contract as compared to another club...its not apples and aplles !!

It is my understanding that $'s are the sticking point re Green staying at MFC.

He is worth a 2nd Rounder at max. Melbourne can't pay him more than $300 K, given they must pay 92.5% of the cap in 09.

Saw that same thing written and shot-down on Big Footy. He has been offered $1.1m over 3 years already by the demons.

He may be worth a second rounder, but a better one than Collingwood's. At worst, it would be pick 29 plus...

MFC has permission to pay less than 92.5% in 2009, closer to 90% I believe.

they have PERMISSION, it doesn't say anywhere that they MUST pay that percentage only.

Its rubbish

Sydney won't part with their 1st RD pick, ditto Hawthorn for O'Keefe.

They are the only other potential destination & their 2nd RD is after Collingwood's. It's Collingwood's 2nd Rounder or he goes into the PSD.

SEN – Hawthorn and O’Keefe deal is OFF – Hawthorn is not prepared to give up pick 16 – recruiting manager / list manager (Chris Pelchin) on SEN now. Hawks are yet to clarify what they will give up but it’s likely to be 2nd round selection and players for O’Keefe. He also said the Hawks are now unlikely to do any trades this week – pick 16 appears to be GONE unless he is playing the game with 24 hours to go!

This is why the Pies and D’s are most likely talking about Green.

BUGGER!!!!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
