Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This could be bad

OR good

Depends if you want draft picks or wins

Getting flogged by a very mediocre team is NEVER, EVER a good thing. The damage it does to the psyche of a team/club is immense.

If we can at least share the last quarter, all will not be lost.

But I'm not hopeful.

Oh no! Our winning culture in tatters! The psychological apocalypse is upon us!

A crap day at the office and no real incentive to battle it out. I'm far from enamored with this performance but ultimately it will mean sod all.

I'll take a talented 18 year old over a pointless win at Subi that nobody will remember at the end of the year.

Still a disgraceful effort though.

Perfect summation of the day BBP........unfortunately :( !!!

This is only the third time this season that I feel utterly ashamed of our performance.

Apart from Miller who is working his arse off, our players are lazy and generally just don't care.

And how many goals can Wheatley cost us with his turnovers before somebody drags him off the ground?!!!

Not winning is one thing, playing like we are at the moment is completely unacceptable.

P.S.- awesome leadership from Bruce out there

'Jaded', why are you continually watching the boys arses all the time, there's a game on.? :D

What about pride, supporters, club, jumper, not to mention professionalism - these are supposedly professional sportsmen.

There is always an incentive to battle it out. Indeed, they are obliged to. It is demanded of them!

I want draft picks, but the way we're playing today no amount of early picks is going to help us.

Draft picks don't make you accountable for your man, don't enable you to hit targets, and sure as hell doesn't make you play with more desire.

Actually, they do.

When you think about it, More talent at the club forcing players to achieve, to hold their place is a grerat incentive.

Enough with the cliches mate. Its bad enough that the players and coaches dish up the same old [censored] each week without the supporters doing the same. If this loss hurts you, I suggest therapy and/or Vallium. It doesn't require 'out of the box' thinking to see how this is totally inconsequential.

An absolutely dreadful match. We still have to play North, Essendon, Geelong, West Coast, Port and Richmond. I reckon we can still win about 4 of them so it was good we lost today for draft picks.:)

You have got to be kidding. We might get an arm wrestle with WCE but we are a few rungs below the others.

Overall the result is one thing, the lack of effort for 3 quarters was concerning. A few blokes pushed themselves closer to the door at Year end.

well anyone that has read a handfull of her posts would know she doesnt watch the game

Well I never notice your posts, so I guess we're even

Losing at this stage of the year is a positive, getting smashed by Freo after beating them in the first quarter, is not.

I'm much more worried about the effort than the result.

Edit: beat me to it by *this* much Rhino :D

The loss doesn't hurt me, the pathetic effort for 3 quarters concerns me as it should all supporters. Check the other posts on the end of this topic mate; your the one out of touch. (Oh, and my preferred drug as alcohol, which I will now give a nudge.)

I just thought you and a couple of others were overreacting to be honest. Crap effort I agree but its hardly likely to have any sort of lasting effect. We have a young, young team and stuff all leadership to turn them around when they lose their way, especially with Green out of the side. Its hardly unexpected that they don't play 4 quarters every week. That will come as they mature, and take more responsibility.

It is funny as we all know we are playing terrible footy but we at least want to see some light at the end of the tunnel. One week we can see something, then next we realise it is not light is a pile excrement we wander by down this tunnel.

It seems one step forward and two back, we need to see progression and the first qtr seemed like a good progression, the last 3 qtrs were steps backwards. It is frustrating to say the least

Anyone give a report on Robbie Warnock???? If he is to be considered in PSD, if he is interested, did he outplay Jamar???

Warnock had 13 disposals and 13 hitouts, but was barely noticed. He won't be the 'saviour' in the ruck if we do somehow manage to snaffle him in the pre-season draft.

In comparison Jamar had 14 disposals/14 hitouts, Johnson 15d/7HO and big Sandilands had 15/23HO's. I would say there was no clear winner in the big-man stakes today, Jamar was certainly more than serviceable again today, his improvements are tending to be more baby steps than quantum leaps, but he's getting there..

Oh, and all 3 of Sandilands, Jamar and Johnson kicked 1.0, although Sandilands did hit one out on the full as well...

It seems to me that so many posters are over-reacting. Before the game I thought we would lose by about 40 points and it was only marginally worse than that. Sure, it would have been better if the effort in the second and third quarters was better and if the turnovers were less but these things happen with a young side.

We had a very, very young list and we were playing at Subiaco where a 46 point loss is no worse than normal. Don't forget that Freo are still a capable side with much more experience than the list we had out there. They have also gone very close to some top sides at Subiaco (including Geelong).

The upside for us is that we have bottomed and are on the way back whereas, in my opinion, they are still on the way down with a list comprised of several older players, some mediocre players that have been around for a few years and only a couple of good youngsters.

Don't be despondent you lot - we will put in a good performance in the next week or so (hopefully next week) and the optimism will be back.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
