my argument relates to the win so ill post it here tool

When you resort to calling people tools, you know you've ran out of things to say. Please stop trolling the match day thread. Create a new one if you wish.

Drop it lads. Enough with the ad hominem mudslinging. We don't need everyone to come on here and weigh in. Its been said about 10 times already.

Discuss the win.

I doubt ill be the only one but im guttered about todays win. Call me a bad supporter but there is little need of winning. We need more kids as this team will take 5+ years to be good grand final contenders. With the GC and Sydney teams coming in were screwed if we finish second last. Im really really guttered

Im a paid up supporter. I have been to 7 games this year. I donate $10 for every win we have. I have a bedroom covered in melbourne FC newspaper articles. My car is covered in stickers. My ring tone is the MFC song and i love the club. I just wanna see the club get long term sucsess than short term and its a fact pick 1 p[layers are USALLY better than other pick players. Not always but there is a tendancy to be that way. Natanui will bring supporters to the game and excitement therefor more $ for the club. I couldnt give a rats what u guys think of me but ill let u know now im as pashionate as everyone else.

Why did we win? Freakin idiots. Don't we want pick 1. Very disappointing.

If we had Jeff White in we would have lost. What was Bailey thinking? Who taught Miller to kick goals?

We should take them out to Junction Oval and shoot the lot of them.

Why is Brad Green still on our list let alone in the team?

I can't believe that you waste your money buying an Adult membership. B)

And to the likes of Hannabal and Rhino Richards who profess that winning a premiership is all that matters, you can get stuffed. Days like today is what supporting a football team is all about. Unbridled joy until the next game.

And if that game costs us the no.1 pick, I don't give a shite.

occo: The anti-supporter...

If you haven't figured out yet that getting a #1 pick (as opposed to a #2 or #3) does NOT win you flags then you have no hope at all...

Getting more than 4 wins? Fair enough... That would lose us a third top 20 pick and THAT hurts (as well as a shot at a priority NEXT year). But in case you haven't noticed occo....

WE HAVEN'T WON 4 GAMES YET!!!

Well I must confess to be suffering one hell of a headache...as the two spheres of my mind rage battle. I may have to seek more medicinal comfort from another amber.

The battle rages upon the two faces of this game. what a stiring heart gratifying day at the G. Did it matter my thermos broke..no.. did it matter the donuts again nearly burnt my mouth ( youd think Id learn ) ..another Ale garcon !! its great to sing the song.. Its great to see your team reborn, its great to see passion and unbridled enjoyment upon the field. You can just sense soething is stirring...they want to put the demon to the sword , they want to rid the land of or ilk and they want to sanitise our name into mundaness and irrelevance !! Strangely we wont allow this ..go figure... lol..some just dont get the notion that whilst we arent fashionable as a cause ( just yet ) we will not allow oursleved to become extinct...not now, not tomorrow, NOT EVER !!

The passion that some of you show in your postings and condemnation echo this..and again one side of me wants t ojoin in...but the other side of my thinking issues caution. Might we be celebrating despite ourselves. Is this really the time to let loose ? The thinking half sides wide the likes of OCCO and such. Is it a little like culting off our loss to spite our fate !! ;)

We need days like today...to feel good...to feel participant in the greater picture to again feel rooted in all causes red and blue.

For over two hours I immersed myself into good ol baracking. To cheering and feeling good about th eteam, to feel proud they were my chosen colours out there...Red...and Blue.. it was good.

Im home with some time to reflect..and Im just wonderig if it really does us any favours in the context of the greater contest..a Premiership. I hope not.

For now ..i'll be going to rub it into a Tiger supporting mate whilst we cheer any team on against the Bombers, especially as this one NEEDS to win for us !!

Just because some come on here and voice a heartfelt concern doesnt make them any less a Melbourne supporter..passionate in our cause. But when some come on chucking purile and jevenile floggings at brother supporters it does add fuel to the fires of those who can see beyond the next 5 mins

Great win Dees...I hope its not at 'any' price though !!

The Prize is a Premiership, the cause and method is winning...but theres a time and place for everything. Im just wondering if today was it

Go Dockers !!

If that keep that form up though... we could end up winning many more! haha

But i'm not exactly worried that we're going to be jumping up the ladder in leaps and bounds. We'll probably still finish last or 2nd last with less than 5 wins... and i'd be more than happy with that.

As is the go with young kids and rebuilding, and as we've seen all year, our ability to play consistent, 4-qtr footy, and be mentally switched on and prepared, every week, week-in week-out, regardless of who the opposition is, has been very patchy. There'll be good days like today, and there will be shockers along the way too.

I too think it is important for us to finish low and get that priority pick, BUT I'm stoked that we won today! It could not have been any better for me given the weekend i've had (ex-girlfriend troubles... ). Was a great performance, and easily our most positive, consistent showing for the year. How can any Melbourne supporter be upset about today?

If we're on 4 wins come round 22 against Richmond, and we get up, THEN and only then, can we start having a b*tch about it.

I'm with you mo64 - as I was yelling at the tv, swearing, clapping, cheering etc the draft was the last thing on my mind. A fantastic, well deserved win that will do wonders for the spirit of MFC players and fans alike. Thank god the kids were out with grandma this afternoon...

Good post. It is going to be a very enjoyable final 8 weeks of footy. I can`t see us winning more than 4 games(there will be hell to pay if we win 5) but we are showing some terrific signs. It`s a very strange feeling being a Dees fan at the moment. If we win I am absolutely stoked. If we lose admirably I walk away supressing a smile also! We will finish bottom 3 no doubt about it and as much as I have had my heart on Natanui, I will be very happy with either him or Watts and if we finish 16th 15th or 14th we will most likely get to choose one of these guys anyway!

The euphoria of a game won lasts but hours...days at most.. its fleeting.

Premierships however can carry you for years, even lifetimes ;)

They can be upset if they couldn't make it to the game :(

I wouldn't know the feeling of a premiership Bub, so the euphoria of wins like today won't be fleeting.

You suck! If you need reminding, we are not Carlton! We are the Melbourne Demons.

Neither do I.. ...that really..is the whole point. Very few of us who barrack for Melbourne and indeed might be on this list know what its like to win a Premiership. Its almost emabarassing that we get all caught up in the moment of seldom seen win.

Thats all it is .. just a home and away win, nothing more nothing less.

There is really only ONE game to really get excited over winning and that invariably occurs at the end of September !! Yep its great to feel that surge of pride at winning a game. To be honest Im already over it. Winning this year is irrelevant unless it thwarts us from claiming any prizes at seasons end; prizes that wil influence a whole season ( and more ) of wins going forward.

id rather sing the song 12-13 time snext year when it can really have an effect than once, twice .. 3 or 4 times this year.

Its a bit like waking up in the morning wishing you had a Magiver knife or sharper teeth as you contemplate gnawing your arm off after a drunken sojourn the night before.. Yep..all seemed a great idea at the time..everyone seems to have had fun and enjoyed the moment...and then reality sets in during the cold dawn of realisation !!

The reality is we need our best side to be playing from the beginnig of next season. This season is a write off. Its value it what can be gained from it and wins, though great for the footy soul may do nothing for us in the long run

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
