Is Hurley Vic Metro as well?

Sure is. Was number 18 last time I saw him, from memory.

Naitanui snapshot: I listened to some of the Swans v. W. Perth game on the radio. At one stage NN, according to the commentators, dropped a mark he should have taken, but followed it up w. a tackle (on Mark Seaby, I think) that won a free, then kicked poorly. room for improvement, they were saying.

And this from someone at the game:

"On to the man - NickNat - well today was very interesting in that he wasn't played in the ruck until the last quarter. Seemed more of an onball role early and even in defence a bit (where he actually wasn't too bad, which did surprise me). He covers a lot of ground and his skills were actually very good today, given the inclement weather and that bitterly cold wind. Someone commented his marking wasn't great and it wasn't today, but I wouldn't be too concerned because I've seen him mark a lot better than that at other times. His clearances and work rate are exceptional for a 6'6" man."

Some views on Rich from yesterday:

"Rich was shithouse. Is either carrying an upper thigh injury, or something. Is incredibly slow. I'm not convinced he will have the impact at AFL level people are thinking. He can't keep up at WAFL level, let alone with another 5-10kg's. No wonder he can't shake a tag. Can't win his own ball to save his skin either."

And another; "On Rich, I was quite disappointed in his game in the U18s at Subi a few weeks back and worry that he may not quite be the player he is being talked up to be - he is playing in an exceptional team at Subiaco, and we've all seen what can happen to players when they go from being surrounded by very, very good players to being surrounded by less than great players. I hope I'm wrong (and more than likely will be) but I'm just not convinced he is going to be as good as we'd like."

These people who were at the game wouldn't be WCE supporters hoping to put others off the scent, would they?

Rich kicked four goals in his previous game for Subiaco. How many 18 year olds do that in senior football?

Is Rich tanking?

And risk droping through to Fremantle? I doubt it.

Seriously though I would be completely amazed that a kid would be willing to tank.

Let's say this is true and a club has verbally guaranteed he'll get picked, sure great. What happenes if he does a knee or some other serious career threatening injury, result is the club he was talking to decides not to trade him and he slips through the system because he has a serious injury and he now has a reputation of not working hard enough.

Another reason why is if it became public at any stage in his career he'd be totally in the shiite, I can't imagine anyone deciding to have that hanging over their heads.

The other reason why I don't think he'll tank is ego.

I've looked at Rich's 9 WAFL matches this year and noted he's yet to reach 20 possessions. Yesterday he had 6 kicks and 5 handballs. Addam Maric kicked 5 goals for Sandy a few weeks back but just made it into the best players for that day. Kicking a few goals doesn't always mean much.

And to answer your question, one was a Freo supporter and the other an Eagles fan.

Like Jarka, I don't buy the tanking thing, although some are born to look for a conspiracy theory anywhere. What kid trying to impress the footy world and garner some respect amongst his teammates wants to play crap footy ?

It's not listed on my on-screen Foxtel guide(not on Fox Sports 1, 2 or 3.) Is it on some other Fox channel?

Not this Wednesday, next wednesday. My bad

On Triple M today they were saying that whispers have come from Melbourne that Watts is ahead of NN in their draft pecking order

I heard that too. With the likelihood of Warnock coming to Melbourne, PJ and Jamar improving weekly and the forgotten Meesen learning the ropes Watts may well be the man we need the most . A key forward!

That's interesting news Eastie. I am really happy to hear that. As much as NN could be a great player, he is a risk and we are desperate for tall forwards. From the reports I have read about Watts, he sounds very promising and is apparently a good contested mark! Also he is bottom-aged. Obviously, its best to pick the best available at no.1 but if Watts is rated the best available by us I would be stoked. Add Warnock in the pre-season draft/trade and we are looking well covered all over the ground with youngsters.

This game is going to be a must watch.

He wanted to enter the draft as soon as possible to avoid the Gold Coast. And obviously his family are very keen to see him stay in Victoria. Hopefully we can accomadate them. If the Bombers get up today, we should defintely be the last placed Victorian team at the end of the season, and should pick up Watts in the draft.

If you find someone who can take them and kick straight that's 50 goals minimum a year (provided they're half decent and the ball comes down enough obviously).

As much as I dislike, and [censored]-can, Anthony Rocca, Collingwood are pretty lucky to have someone who's 6'5" that on his day can grab anything that comes within arm reach

I just looked up the online tv guide and it says nowhere that this game is on wednesday at 2.30pm?

Anyone know?

That's because it's next Wednesday, not this one.

Watts, Rich, Naita all in action.

A must watch for any Melbourne supporter ;)

That would be straight after the replay of Melbourne v Brisbane too. Awesome, I'm home that day. Might just crack a beer at 12:00noon.....or two! Go Dees!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
