Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Andy Brayshaw won't make it past the top 20. He doesn't have weapons, he's just a good all-round player with no glaring weaknesses that loves the contest.

So basically exactly what we have in abundance at our club.

Trent Mynott, Jack Petruccelle, Alex Federico are all players I'd be interested in around that mark.

Hamish Brayshaw racked up 30 disposals, 8 marks, 11 tackles and kicked 5 goals in TAC Cup this past weekend. He had a really good season for the Sandringham Dragons last year and has been exceptional in the games he's played for them this year and with that in combination with the solid level he's played at in the VFL this year, he's a smokey. Andrew Brayshaw will probably be gone before pick 20 but we'd most likely be able to take him with pick 10. At this stage I don't think we will though but with a strong finish to the season and a strong showing at the combine it is absolutely possible.

As others have suggested, Bailey Fritsch is a huge possibility. I'd rather we took him with our 3rd round pick just because of out of him and the other prospects lingering in that area, he is most likely to slide due to the fact he is a mature-age player (although barely) but of course, that could be being greedy. If Melbourne has him as the best player at that point in the draft, 100% snap him up.

Noah Balta is a 194cm 92kg key defender who is a chance to be taken with our 2nd pick. He's a top 20 prospect but is a defender so it's entirely possible he slides a bit. If we don't get Jake Lever I think we might consider picking him up. For his size he's fast and agile and is a monstrous kick of the footy. He's also smart and we could do with a smart key defender.

Jack Petruccele's ceiling is very high. Dylan Moore is small but he has elite fitness and looks like a real competitor. Charlie Constable could slide and if he does, would be worth the selection. I think with the 10th pick we'll go for need which is a speedy outside midfielder who is a good kick, and with the 27th either best available or someone who has real X factor. Or maybe just Hamish Brayshaw so that his brother comes to the Dees when his contract expires ;) Looking forward to the draft

I'm worried Petruccele's kicking is too bog ordinary to add to our swag of sub-standard kicks

It's an interesting point.

Have you seen him live?

I've seen him a few times this year and you're right it is the knock on him. But what makes me rest easier is that his decision making is actually sound as is his spatial awareness. It's only an execution thing and it's usually because he's running so fast.

On the flip side, I've seen him use the ball very well and kick some serious goals on the run at times too.

I love him. Would love him as a high pressure forward, can take a serious grab too and isn't afraid of the contest.

Understandable. As Steve said, he has a solid foundation due to his strengths. His biggest "problem" is that he's always going 100% but we could use that. Besides, I'd rather his current weakness was disposal as opposed to spatial awareness and decision making because some things you can't teach. Also, I'd take a 50/50 chance to hit an open target over 67788 handpasses per game :P

Must say I struggle with the concept of this. Many if not all players have played since a young age. I would think to even make it at wafl/ vfl / sanfl level, you would need to be able to kick.

I is hard to believe we have a group of players that get paid to play but can't hit a target from 30m.

Having watched some of the 70s and 80 s games lately, the skill level is much better. I understand the pace of the game but simple skills aka the Hawks, are still a must.

Also maybe use pick 27 to grab Scully. He was chasing a premiership 5 years ago. May miss out looking at how they played tonight. GWS may need to start the dreaded 're-build'.

Next year or two will see the 2nd AFL love team self destruct. We can sit and welcome these players back to their home state.

Balta to potentially slide? The sub-editors around the country are licking their lips in anticipation.

I'm sold on Petruccelle based on basically nothing. stevetheman - what's your opinion for where he will end up going in the draft? Is the late-20s range realistic in regards to his purported upside and the potential for other clubs to take a punt. Which other clubs do you think would be keen for his type?

Haha.

It's hard not to like him, given his strengths. So eye catching.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was taken with a mid second-rounder but really I have no idea and I reckon there'll be a bunch of clubs interested depending on how far he slides.

The fact he didn't play much for Metro works against him and his exposed form is only really from this year with the Knights. Has had some huge games as well as quiet ones at Tac cup level. But from the first time I saw him, he stood out.

Honestly, if we can trade this pick for a proven commodity like we did last year then that's the direction I'm leaning in.

We need to get better fast, and drafting outside the top 10 is a crapshoot.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
