Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

FAREWELL LYNDEN DUNN

A big move to take his family to Qld but I hope it works out for him as he will be a regular 22 for them.  With Hibberd, Melksham and maybe Lumumba coming in, giving us lots of depth, it will be unlikely he will play seniors.

at least worth pick 48 from the Lions.

Lynden Dunn is a great bloke with plenty of ability.  Heart and soul around the club.

He remains AFL standard and would walk into the Lions best 18.

Unlucky that o.mcd has been allowed to "develop" in the firsts in 2016. Dunn made one mistake and was dropped never to reappear.

Not sure what their second round pick is, but it might end up being Dunn and our second rounder for their second rounder, which we could then on trade for Hibberd.  Yes, I know, we shouldn't give the Bombers that sort of pick as our current one should be enough, but if we want to get it over the line quickly then they might look at doing something like that.

I'd be happy for Dunny to move on and I think Brisbane would be a good spot for him.  I still think he has at least 2-3 years left in him.

As opposed to playing in the VFL?

Point taken. But the Bears are going nowhere...

True, but neither is his career with us.  An opportunity to play AFL again and lead their backline, while living it up in QLD on decent money, will be a good way to finish his career.  He is clearly nothing more than depth with us, and I think it would be good to see him getting that opportunity elsewhere.

I'd be asking for their second round pick straight up.

Why would they give that up for a bloke who has played 4 senior games this season, and hasn't missed those games because of injury?  It's not as if he was best 22 this year and went down with a serious injury which forced him to miss most of the year.

I can see them laughing in our faces while they go after other key backs that are on their radar.

First round pick, 150-odd games, still fit. He brings more to the table than a lot of second round picks ever do.

But can he still play good, consistent footy at AFL level?  The Lions may take that gamble, but he was passed by a couple of kids this year.  That doesn't necessarily reflect on him very well.

But, we shall see what happens.  I'd be stoked to get a second rounder out of them, but I doubt that will happen.  Third round pick is what I think it will end up being.

I agree. But anyone but The Bears.

Lynden has already been part of 186

It is a sad end regardless of the cash incentive.

Do the lions even have a coach yet?

No, but the strong money is on Chris Fagan at the minute.

Brisbane's current picks: 2,20,24,48,55.....

Possible trades:

Dunn for 48 straight swap  - Think he's worth a little more than that.

Dunn and Mitchie/Terlich for 24.

Dunn and 45 for 24.

Think Dunn & 26 for Picks 24 & 48 is more realistic.

Agree. Reminds me of the Bailey era when we stamped the papers of certain players and played kids who turned out to be rubbish.

Goodwin should take a leaf out of the Beveridge coaching manual and allow the players to play to their strengths. Dunn has far more ability than O. Mac and Frost. Pick 48 for him is a waste.

He is a keeper for me and let's work on where we can best use him. Otherwise work on an offer you can't refuse scenario.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
