  2. Got my Weg and Herald sun posters, the signed jumper won’t arrive until late November. This just arrived to night, a surprise birthday present from my best mate. Going to get it signed at the next family day.

  3. I guess most of us were flag virgins not that long ago. Our elation is no doubt much higher than say a eagles fan who would have experienced "multiple highs" from their success but we still get what many other fans have been getting on a more consistent basis. A PREMIERSHIP IS JUST BLOODY AWESOME. There is an old quote that ... virginity is a recurring condition. I hope we win a flag again ASAP. I hope we win so many that we become hunted and despised.

  4. That 16.4 happened with 1.5 quarters to go, equivalent to 66.67 points per quarter or 267 points for the match. Let’s not forget this was against the 2nd best team for the year. That’s how hot we were.

  5. We had eight players under-21 in the grand final who are only going to get better. One acquitted himself really well in only his 7th game. We didn't have a player with 200 games experience and only one player over 30. Players like Jordon, Hunt, Tomlinson, Daw, Melksham, Weideman, Mitch Brown and Smith are there as role-playing back-ups. Of course injures may happen to key players, but the "law of averages" therefore says to me that we are not going to get worse.

  6. Absolutely miffed. From what Taylor has said, he let the AFL know exactly what he thought about it, especially considering the amount of work we put in for Andrew compared to the Dogs with JUH. Last year's draft was an absolute nightmare so they had to do something, but the ones that are committing daylight robbery this year are the Saints. 2 NGAs who are ranked 20-25 and will get them both this year, but if it was 2022, no chance as the rule changes to the top 40. But full credit to Andrew, in every interview he talks about the development and opportunities given to him by Melbourne and wouldn't be here without us. He might cost too much draft capital to bring him back to the Dees later in his career, but glad he has had such a good time with us.

  7. Lots of people talking about the Melbourne Cup but they seem to have got mixed up and are talking about horse racing???

  9. Jack Grimes was far more talented than his brother Dylan (a 3x premiership player and AA defender). From all reports, Jack was the consummate professional both on and off-field (which fits with his selection as captain). There's always an element of drafting vs development with failed draft picks, but IMO Grimes (along with Trengove) is the most open and shut case of our lousy management from that era destroying a promising AFL career. He'd be a gun in our current system I reckon.

  10. I don’t understand why people are seething about this. The rule was changed at the end of last year and I don’t recall any protests from Melbourne or anyone else. Admittedly, Mac was a completely unknown quantity at the time and, although we know a little bit more about him now, we’re still none the wiser about how he’s going to turn out. If a couple of clubs are prepared to draft him early, that’s their prerogative. It doesn’t fuss me at all.

  11. If they’re anything like their players they’re experiencing multiple highs, flag or no flag. 😏

  13. For sure. Great post doc. He has absolutely done the club and R.d.b very proud. What a stellar year. He's certainly not the atypical full forward with his slight frame and not towering over everyone. But his timing, leap, acceleration and goal sense is incredible. When he is on and its been many a time this season, he is an excitement machine.I think his size and attributes leave sides uncertain who to play on him. I was thrilled with the addition of Bbb this year and thought that he and Weid would tear it up. Don't get me wrong as I think Bbb did a great job but the big surprise was Fritta. Its no understatement to admit that he has been a huge component of winning games this season and he stepped up in the granny both in his bag of goals but how and when he scored them. That leap and recovery goal seemed the catalyst of it all ( no offence Trac). He deserves credit for increasing his tackling and especially his accuracy. Thank you Fritta.

  14. I was just reading the 13 Victories Shaping Melbourne's 13th Flag and the 13th contained this, the Dees piled on 16.4 (100) to the Bulldogs measly 1.1 (7) and ran out 74 point victors I'm still having difficulty coming to terms with this and get the tingles when I think of the last quarter and a half. I've never seen a quarter and a half as devastating as this before.

  16. Brown finding form at the end was the fairytale dream we could see as a possibility but so often doesnt happen. The stars aligned perfectly. He had a great finals series, the Brisbane game was imposing to start off the new 'finals' season and he stood up on the big stage for the rest of the finals. Now the exciting part is our biggest doubt this year, the forward line, has come together nicely so we look strong all over the ground. I can easily see him injury free kicking 50 plus next year and having the occasional day out to win an easy game or two.

  17. Could be the key to back to back premierships. Our home and away forward line was hit and miss but got the job done. A solid contribution from BB in 2022 could be just that little thing that explodes our forward line. Great finals series. Thanks Ben

  18. He played very well in the finals particularly in the last 45 minutes of the Grand Final and had improved his synergy with Bayley Fritsch in the later part of the season. I think he will be even better in 2022 because he has now some understanding how the other forwards interact with him. At one stage during the GF he was playing as the CHF and not gave them a target but made the play. If you look at his involment in the Petracca goal in the 3rd quarter his kick was virtually so deep it got to the back of the pack for Pickett and Petracca to be 2 on 1 with Dunkley. Lots of people questioned whether he would come back to his pre-2020 form and could modify his game to fit into the 3 talls Demons forward line, well it was answered emphatically.

  19. In having a one month anniversary watching of round 23 onwards this afternoon, before I head out to a local pub. (with my 5yo who wants to wear a tuxedo 🤣 and we will honour, as he wants to go to a fancy restaurant (its the BHP))... Every single time I see this person, post Max Gawn's goal against the cats, snapping form the boundary - I just feel he/she encapsulates every Melbourne supporter who drinks...EVERY.SINGLE.TIME *I'm just going to neck what I have in my hand, get another, kick back and enjoy the show!

  23. Is anyone else seething by the fact that he will more than likely go to another club? After the Bulldogs developed Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and drafted him at No.1, the AFL decided to move the goal posts. Here we have a young man that we put so much time and money into developing though our Next Generation Academy. The AFL implored clubs to invest in these development programs to bolster the inclusion of indigenous communities and new-generation migrants. We did that. If Mac Andrew were a Collingwood, Hawthorn, or Essendon NGA prospect we wouldn't have heard the end of it, yet the Melbourne camp has been relatively quiet.

  25. Another quality young man that can play multiple roles, just starved for opportunity but will be ready to come in when the opportunity presents. Loved his tears and emotion after the final siren. Hang in there Kade I am sure you will get your chance to shine. !!
