The Doggies have just destroyed a whole bunch of assumptions. Winning from 7th, with a huge injury list, not a glamour club, and with a solid list of non-stars, with only a few exceptions. This game is as much about collective psychology ('buy-in', if you wanna call it that) as anything. It's truly a TEAM game, and they've just proved the essence of it.12 points

7 of today's Swans side and 5 of today's Dogs side were rookies. My point is you turn over your list with more chances to improve by getting rid of players who cannot assist the list.12 points

So proud of the Doggies. Such a proud club that has no excuses and continully bust there guts. Well done doggies.9 points

I'm happy for the Bulldogs, destroys the myth that you need to be a rich club to win premierships.9 points

Bit out of order BBO Heart and soul of Doggieland. A FAIR and Best player. Naughty bin for you8 points

Jeez they established a new standard today didn't they? I looked at the players accepting their medals wondering how the hell they managed to pull it off with so many players not considered as stars. They are the new benchmark, and deserve everything they got, especially considering their terrible injury run, and winning run of 4 finals. What a team. We have a huge amount of work to do before we can dare to dream like they did.8 points

They were favourites for the spoon last season, premiers 18 months later. Hopefully makes the footy world, and Melbourne in particular, realise it doesn't take the better part of a decade to rebuild a quality side.8 points

Do not feel down in the slightest way. The Dee's had their best year in a decade and the Dogs got up for a fairytale win after a drought of 58 years. what is there to be down about.6 points

giving them all a bye before finals start doesn't give them all an equal chance by any stretch dogs at 7 had to play 4 teams in a row all above them on the ladder and on their home grounds. that's hardly an equal chance nothing wrong with the bye. affects all teams equally and helps all teams get as many players as possible at the fittest which is only a good thing5 points

What?! I'll put it down to you being one of those who is deliberately downplaying Hogan's ability to soften the blow of him leaving because, otherwise, I can't fathom how anyone could believe that. And, before you start, I thought Boyd was totally deserving of the North Smith today. Incredible performance.5 points

An incredible day. Not just a win for the Dogs, but a win for football. Premierships can be won from outside the top 4, from outside the "big 3" clubs, from outside the "big 4" Melbourne clubs. Sydney's forward line was non-existent today. Franklin had to do it all himself. Papley, RIchards and Hewett had great debut years but had no impact in the game - in fact, other than Heeney I thought all of Sydney's young players were rubbish. I've long considered Tippett to be the most overrated player in the league and today was no exception. Watch Sydney target/buy a key forward this off-season as they really need someone to support Franklin (and it's not Tippett). As for the Dogs - no absolute A-grade star performances but 22 contributions. An amazing game, capping off the best September I think we have ever seen. Wholly deserved. Let's hope some/all of our players were watching today and can draw some believe for 2017.5 points

I don't care being a Dees fan, but I thought the umpiring was the worst in GF living memory. The Dogs were given an armchair ride and with the Hawks, have been for years.5 points
-
You're normally the voice of reason but .... GF. 6 contested marks some massive. 3 goals. Without him the Dogs don't win and if he won the Norm Smith it would have been just. Come the hour come the man. Boyd is miles ahead of Hogan right now. Hogan has the ability to bridge the gap but he has got it all in front on him.5 points

Im sitting amongst a train of dogs supporters... Melbourne you better be watching... im sick of this [censored], no more [censored] excuses, get your arse into gear..2017 no prisioners !5 points

This result doesn't feel right to me. Absolutely exploiting the rules with throwing and ducking. Umpires paying all 50/50's to the Dogs. Seems like the WWF. Fabricating a narrative for commercial success5 points

It is not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of fight in the dog. How great is it to see the Dogs get up. I have seldom enjoyed a GF so much It gives me hope for all the small clubs in the future. Dreams can come true.5 points

i only have one club, MFC, but nothing but absolute respect and admiration for an unbelievable club performance that we witnessed this year from the bulldogs.5 points

Bevo has turned the theory that coaches shouldn't get too close to their players on its ear. Those blokes love each other. I'm happy that our blokes love Goodwin.5 points

Mmmmmm .. I'll concede the year had some pleasing aspects, however, the [censored] ups against Carlton and Geelong left a very sour taste. I'm not sure where we stand atm. We are certainly a long way off any of the sides I've seen play in the last 3 weeks.4 points

Not down at all. Rapt that the Dogs have broken a huge drought. While the players are too young to have experienced it, this will mean the world to so many supporters and club administrators, boot studders etc. The one who best bridges the gap between the old stalwarts and the new playing group is Bob Murphy. For some reason he is such an atypical representative of the west, but his heart is rooted there. Bless his loyalty. Long may he enjoy this time on top of the world.4 points
-
Agree with all that except the Dogs aren't a foundation club. I've seen this falsehood a number of times. They joined the existing league just like GWS did.4 points
-
And he has something that Hogan may never have a Premiership medal that he earned.4 points
-
Can't take anything away from Boyd. He was immense and unlucky not to get the Norm Smith. Nothing to be gained by comparing him to Hoges.4 points

Harden the [censored] up dees .. all respect for the dogs shows anythings possible, no excuses Melbourne!!!4 points

The bye has certainly changed the dynamic of the 8. First year its ever happened and the 7th placed team won the flag. That is a great thing.4 points

Boyd is a [censored] forward and average ruck. He played his best game in a grand final, so good on him, but he's never been better than ok in the other 36. Hogan shits on Boyd as a footballer and only a simpleton would think otherwise.4 points

I too am a 1 eyed demon supporter of 34 years. Just love seeing a battler club win4 points

Being a born and breed Son of the West I hope like hell they win. If they do win it's a win for all the dreamers out there. Of course If Sydney win it's a win for all the Accountants, Player Managers, Marketing gurus and Economic Rationalists out there. I know which I'd rather be.4 points

Well there are rumours JH will be announced on a 4 year deal next week. But yes, we are much better at keeping matters in house now.4 points

Exactly right BA. That's why the rumor about us the other week of being into Josh Watts doesn't surprise me either. We need tall defenders, rucks, ruck/fwd's and outside mids this off season.4 points
