http://www.smh.com.au/sport/jesses-story-brave-big-hearted-and-many-more-things-to-do-20160819-gqwmi0.html Touching article by Emma Quayle on Jesse's progress. Great to hear that Jesse was able to see his Dees topple the reigning premiers a few weeks back. Let's hope we can turn it on for him in the last two rounds and give ourselves a shot at finals.20 points

A fantastic and well written article by the respected Jude Bolton. worth a read. http://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/17343844/afl-weaker-paul-roos-exit-leaves-demons-stronger-says-jude-bolton11 points

Hawks were two games clear on top before they ran into the Red and Blue machine. We may have ended their reign.10 points

Its round 22 and what a joy this is to see Demonland posters arguing about how much we need to win by to make up % to make the finals , instead of arguing about why we are still such a bad club we after another horrific end to a season. Let the good times roll.10 points

Really feel for the kid. I have no idea what went wrong with Toumpas, but ultimately nobody has won out of the situation. I wish he'd been the player we hoped, but it is what it is. All the best for his future.9 points

His mettle and sanity has been tested over the 3 years, but what a job he has done. To think there were people actually calling for him to hand over the reigns to Goodwin just weeks out from round 1... David King in particular was very vocal about it from memory. What an arrogant piece of work that clown is.8 points

I feel for Toumpas because he seems like such a nice guy, sadly he just isn't suited to the AFL.7 points

Well that would be funny. At the hawks game i was pretty vocal through the game and partic near the end when i confess i yelled Percentage! A hawks fan in front of me did a lot head shaking and when leaving patted me on the shoulder and said (in a very condescending tone) - might see you in the finals next year champ. Which was funny because even though he meant it as a sledge i had just been thinking exactly the same thing. It would be even funnier if we met them in the final this year. Perhaps knocking them out in the second week after elimnating the cats in the first week. In that dream scenrio he is sitting right in front of me again!7 points

I think it's pretty unfair on the Brisbane Lions that Essendon get pick 1 this year, they're going to welcome back several very good AFL players from suspension, the Lions get a couple back from injury, but they've been genuinely awful this year, where as the Bombers have hamstrung themselves by attempting to cheat, if the AFL were set on giving Essendon a pick this year, they should have set it before the season started at say pick 5,6 or 7 and not allowed it to compromise the pointy end of the draft, I haven't been a huge fan of the Brisbane Lions playing the victim like they have and sooking it up when we applied for a priority pick, but geez it's a big oversight on the AFL's part to allow Essendon pick 1, i reckon they nearly have to grant the Lions a PP on this basis because the difference between pick 1 and 2 can be huge, and they are genuinely the worst team/list in the AFL. People will celebrate if the Bombers come back and play finals next year but i personally will mark it as one of the most transparent and disappointing acts of a league putting $$ ahead of the integrity of the sport, clean sport and the integrity of the contest that i can remember in Australian sporting history. I am sure they've had their part to play in retaining Hurley and Hooker, both looked certain to leave7 points

This is a rough guide of percentage outcomes of tomorrows match. Top line is our score, down the left is Carltons score. Find the intersecting cell in the table for a rough idea of what our percentage would look like. I've bolded the outcomes which get us to the 107% mark, i.e. 80-30. Obviously from those numbers we'd need a roughly 50 point win to get close to the current mark. This does not take into account what happens next week. No, it's about percentage. North currently on 107.6. To match that we would need right now 50 more points in our "for" column. To get to 107.6 tomorrow we need this kind of outcome: If Carlton score 60 points we need to score 115. If Carlton score 80 points we need to score 136. If Carlton score 100 points we need to score 158. If Carlton score 120 we need to get ready for Mad Monday.6 points

It's all good mate. I agree entirely - or at least would, if we were the players. The players absolutely must adhere to what you've said. Just reckon we fans can say and do whatever and it makes no difference.5 points

Is it bizarre to anyone else that St Kilda are currently above us on the ladder on 11 wins (likely 12 wins after next week) with a percentage 15% worse than us? Looking a bit closer at their fixture, they played the Bombers twice (15th last year but essentially 18th), Carlton twice (18th) and us at Etihad twice, practically 6 free wins.5 points

Brad Scott looked as though he was about to cry (in post match press conference). He acts like he is telling it like it is - but his words suggest otherwise. He is still playing it safe, talking around in circles, and trying to minimize the expectations heaped on the Kangaroos. I feel it is the same mentality that has seen them slide from 1st to nearly out of the 8. Then to top it off he speaks of the Kangaroos being a threat to top sides in the 8. He is all over the shop. To me, I don't think he has the mental toughness to get the job done, same as Hardwick. Same as Leppa. Their teams just compound. Their teams are a reflection of their personality - unable to accept criticism, inconsistent, erratic, unstable, and unable to stand up in the face of pressure.5 points

There is a girl in that clip that shared a romance with a younger Biffen for a couple of years. She was proud of that clip and told me that she would only leave me for the Ox. Fair enough was my response.5 points

Fair enough but it's impossible to get excited by competitive walking. On the slo mo replays it is obvious they are all lifting both feet. Some egregiously, some subtly, but they all do it. It doesn't have a decent rationale for existing (competitive walking??? what next, competitive yoga?), and no one follows the supposed rules anyway. It should go into the basket of fake sports such as trampolining, anything where you need to wear makeup, and synchronised everything.5 points

I have high hopes for ANB. Seems to have a good mental attitude, knows where the goals are, can lay a good tackle, has footy smarts and has endurance. I wish him well.5 points
-
I like the changes... We get to see Weideman & Hogan. Pedders a bit unlucky but maybe a late inclusion for either of them. ANB comes in for Garlett, he's been playing more forward at Casey recently ...Kennedy has dropped off a little the last few weeks. Michie has been playing well off half back and setting the game up with his kicking...Harmes needs a reset. Salem would be lucky to be anywhere near 90% for AFL...it would be unfair on him to play. If you remember his earlier games before taking time out he wasn't impacting at all and about to be dropped. Let him come back in when he's really up and running.5 points

I think you may have to start getting used to this Nash, it's the new MFC. When was the last time we made 2 unforced changes following a win, and a good win at at that?!? A new benchmark has been set. I fully agreed with you that there's been allowances for disposal inefficiencies as long as the effort was there. That's just all changed and the players now have to be accountable for all aspects of their game. Harmes out for Michie. Harmes has disposal problems, and consistently. He'll be hungrier than ever to work on this and fight his way back in. I'm sure he'll fix it, given his desire, and come back a better player. Michie has destroyed the VFL this year. I watched one of the games online a few weeks ago and to me he missed a lot of targets, but at the same time everyone was saying his efficiency numbers were good. Either way, his overall numbers are undeniable, and I'd be extremely disappointed if we didn't give him a shot in that role to prove himself. He's a direct swap, role for role, with Harmes, and I hope he's upgraded in the draft.. Pedo out for The Pusher. I'm a Pedo fan, he's tough and he does his role regardless. It may not reflect on the stat sheet, but my eyes tell me he's so far in front of Dawes that there's no longer a conversation. However, Weeds is the future and performed well enough on debut to suggest he can not only hold his end up, but improve even further second up, and take some focus off Hoges. Now if what they say's true and he copped a cork in that first marking contest, I think we'll see something pretty spectacular vs Carlton. ANB in for Garlett is somewhat of a surprise as it isn't like for like. Kennedy would have been the obvious option, however ANB has definitely deserved a chance to show what he can do, and in the wet he may be even more valuable than Garlett himself. Only time will tell. I'd consider them aggressive selections in that they aren't the obvious and they're clearly an attempt to improve a winning side. I'm loving it Nash, and I know what Big Kev would say right about now. I'm excited! Make no mistake, we're (sorry, MFC are) making a charge at this years finals - and we'll do a lot of damage if luck sees us through the door.4 points
