  1. (Disclaimer: no offence is intended by the below. Just a bit of tongue in cheek to round off the week) Q: What colour is the sky? old dee: The sky is still blue after all this time will it ever change? i'll believe it when I see it rpfc: The sky might be blue right now, but it is naive to expect this is going to change overnight. We must accept that while others have a starry night sky, or a red dusk, or a pink dawn, our sky is blue, and it will remain blue until some significant changes to the way in which the air scatters the sunlight are made. These changes will take time. Ron Burgundy: The sky is the best thing that has happened to us in a long time. I have total faith in it. I love the sky. Satyriconhome: actually chap, I know where the sky is at and so does God. In fact when my lovely lady and I were talking to God the other day we spoke about the sky. I just like to entertain myself on here with all you keyboard heroes who think you know the sky better than God and I. WYL: it's still blue and it's still falling. When are we going to see change? How much longer are we going to put up with this incompetent sky? Webber: I thought I'd correct some of the statements being made in here regarding the sky's colour which are just plain incorrect. Except for light that comes directly from the sun, most of the light in the day sky is caused by scattering, which is dominated by a small-particle limit called Rayleigh Scattering. The scattering due to molecule sized particles (as in air) is greater in the forward and backward directions than it is in the lateral direction. Scattering is significant for light at all visible wavelengths, but it is stronger at the shorter (bluer) end of the visible spectrum; meaning that that the scattered light is more blue than its source, the sun. The sky can turn a multitude of colors such as red, orange, purple and yellow (especially near sunset or sunrise) when the light must pass through a much longer path (or optical depth) through the atmosphere. Scattering effects also partially polarize light from the sky, most pronounced at an angle 90° from the sun. Scattered light from the horizon travels through as much as 38 times the atmosphere as light from the zenith, causing it to lose blue components, causing a blue gradient: vivid at the zenith, and pale near the horizon. Because red light also scatters if there is enough air in between the source and the observer, these longer wavelengths of light will also scatter significantly, making parts of the sky change color during sunset. ENYAW: why does the sky do what it did? It just hangs there? I watch and think the sky, is not what it was 10 years ago. get the clouds to move to a different part of the sky ? dee-luded: the sky, forever changing, never constant. maybe someone else wants to offer up a bigger sacrifice to the sky?? just a thought Bitter but optimistic: bugger the sky I say! Who needs the sky when there is alcohol and women to consume! hogans heroes: The sky is pathetic. The clouds are hopeless and the sun is a loser. I hope the sky burns in hell for what it has done (three weeks later) The sky is absolutely beautiful. Redleg: The sky is still blue after all these years and it's about time we stood up to God and told him to change it. picket fence: The sky is blue but the clouds aren't puffy enough! Plus we need more rainbows! I propose we switch some clouds for rainbows! Just my view! rjay: That is an interesting question that you pose 'P-Man'. I think it is blue but I also think it can be a variety of other colours that we don't get to see as often. Machsy: Are you serious? How can you not know that? That is just about the stupidest question I've ever been asked. The sky? Seriously?? Jumbo returns: The sky is still blue and I am very skeptical of this God fella. I will wait to see what he does to change the colour of the sky before I sing his praises. Jaded: I stood underneath the sky yesterday while it rained. I stood there, wondering why I bother watching it while it pours down. But I'll be there again next week. Standing underneath it. Hoping it won't rain. Ben Hur: I could explain it to you but you wouldn't understand.

  2. So why can't we beat North like the other crap teams ?!

  3. Was told today by my uncle who works at a TAC cup team and has some connections with a few Victorian AFL teams that Dylan Shiel will be on his bike back to Victoria at the first opportunity whether that be this year or next year, he also said Melbourne are very interested from what he is hearing and have a very good offer on the table and the picks to get the deal done.

  5. I'd love to know what Maxwell has on his CV that is different to Lings that makes him a potential success and Ling not. They both seem very, very similar to me.

  6. Scorps have a lead of 5.3.33 to 1.1.7 at quarter time after producing some of their best footy for 12 months. Max Gawn has two goals and he Dan Nicholson (12 disposals) are Casey's best to date.

  7. Only depending on the Frawley outcome IMO. If Frawley stays then Malceski comes basically at no cost to us other than salaries we have to pay anyway. The upside of having a skillful runner of half back far outweighs the risk for mine. We need this type of player more than just about anything else. It does become complicated if Frawley goes and we're trying to weigh off compensation though.

  8. Not for mine. How many ACL's? 3? How many Lars? 2? Latest Lars has held up for a couple of seasons. At 29, next knee injury will be the end. Would be madness.

  9. Jesse Hogan to become the first player in VFL/AFL history to win his club's goalkicking playing only 4 games.

  10. Ling also said the leadership group were asking him about where he was heading. It's sounds as like they interviewed him and wanted to know about him too

  11. As I said then, I will say again now, you don't meet the leadership group unless you are very interested in the position imo

  12. Seriously??? Tom McDonald does a calf in the pre-season and we have enough KPD's to cover him???? We're playing WCE at Pattersons in R2 and we've got enough quality key backs to cover Kennedy, Darling, McGovern and Cox???? We will get good compo for Chip. But we will miss him big-time in the short term.

  13. You would assume the club would do their due diligence before signing him, but this is his third year in row injury free. If we got him for the right price then I can't see any reason why a rational Melbourne fan would say no to his signing.

  14. Big, big fan. We're crying for precise delivery off HBF and who better? All posters have sat in the stands and watched our forwards lead up, only to see the ball fly over their heads. If doable, I say yes!

  15. Frosty Demon Deletions: Trengove, Grimes, Watts, Frawley, Garland, Jamar, and ??? Do you think taking the last 5 players in the draft at 110, 111, 112, 113, and 114 will make our list better and give us REAL FOOTBALLERS? Or do you think it's just more hot air and empty hate?

  20. What's your thoughts on Salem, IMO he is a good pick. I think a lot need to stop comparing the new regime with the post 2013 regime

  22. That's a little nugget of info we didn't know, as I thought he had only met with Roos and some of the FD. Makes things more interesting to say the least.

  24. There have been a few reports from the club about working on Gawn's game as a forward, so it's really good to see he's getting plenty of time down there and doing a good job. If he can make himself a legitimate threat then he's going to be hell to match up on in a year or two.

  25. Fantastic reports KC and bj - edge of seat stuff. Thanks! [censored] result!

  26. Well I guess the clutch AFL goal suits Salem better.

  27. He (and his manager) should of just kept his trap shut and only said to anyone that ask about his contract "no comment until the end of the season" or "I am not commenting on it until the end of the season". It's not overly difficult really but he has made it that way with the dribble that he has been saying all season.

  28. One of my absolute favourites. We complain about our ball use from half back. Here is a player who basically wins games with his drive from half back. Would gladly have him for a couple of years!

  29. The stats are compelling. With 4 i/changes - you lose a player early you are 81% likely to lose the game. hence the 3subs and substitute

  30. Much prefer a Ling type personality than an angry ant like the Scott's, Neeld, Watters etc. Usually these types implode and leave a mess in their wake. Clarkson seems one of the few that get away with it.

  31. believe me I am laughing too, great thread by P man

  32. Not saying I love it but the sub was never about injury rate. It was to remove the disadvantage a team had if they lost a player early in a game.

  33. Mate ask anyone from Geelong footy club if cam ling would be a coach and you will have your answer, I met Joel Corey a few months back and asked and he couldn't speak highly enough of him

  34. Read my post in the other thread - you are angry at the wrong things and your remedy wouldn't help it would only make things worse. 12 months removed from Neeld and have people learnt nothing about how to manage players and build a list? Essentially blaming flankers and pockets for our problems - which centres around our lack of a capable midfield - is missing the point. Neeld missed it when he was giving verbals to Watts and the other 'problems' instead of trying to get us a capable midfield. If Roos gets another Vince, Tyson, Cross and Salem, JKH in the draft - maybe we will win more games than we lose. Getting rid of our senior players won't help us win more.

  36. I love that you've captured the writing style as well as the content style. Brilliant. Poor Webber - it must be hard having an IQ of 190 amongst us mere humans! I love it when he turns up and embarrasses all the clueless wailers with his knowledge. h_h was by far the best one, though. I even read it in the same comical voice in my head that comes to mind when I read the real h_h's posts. I first read this at lunch time and am still giggling at "the sun is a loser".

  37. After Tapscott's completely useless performance last week, how badly would someone have to play before they get dropped straight away? That guy has more lives than a litter of cats. I'm not sure what Bail and Kent are contributing at present either. Great to see Blease and JKH back in - we will look a lot better with some leg speed in the side.

  40. Geez we have had some bad luck with players. Look at what our forward 50 could have possibly looked like with Jurrah, Wonna, MC, Dawes and Hogan. Now that would have been something to watch. U never know though it could be Dawes, Hogan, JKH and Cameron. Still not bad.

  41. I always said that he wasn't half the player he was wearing 24 as he was on 48.But I am truly confident - often a bad accolade from a Demon diehard - that the current #24 despite some obvious similarities will be as exciting a player and one with far more longevity that Liam. GO DEES

  43. thanks man, spoke to Hogan at training the other week. Said he really appreciated my posts, then gave me a wink. I took the wink as it being he loved the club as much as my posts and he would sign. Sure enough he did. All hail me

  46. Covered most of the same subjects as the Tuesday presser on Club website On extending for 3rd year, still hasn't been asked for a decision Ling/Kirk etc - going to find out who is available and interested and go from there, still believes you need to serve an apprenticeship Frawley - wouldn't play him if Chip told him he had signed with another club today Said because of 18 teams, there are some players, who are AFL players, but wouldn't necessarily get a game 20 years ago, in other words the real talend is spread too thin On the Academies, said the Clubs involved are only doing what the AFL allows them to do

  48. Yes tanking is when Brock McLean blows the whistle, not when an assistant coach like Libba calls it on Carlton or their former way word full forward, the Fev writes about it in his book. But then we were not done for tanking, just that we were thinking about it or something. At the end of the day Bailey apparently didn't pick some players on game day that he should have. Of course all the top clubs are able to do that with impunity but not us. Best you talk to Caroline Wilson.
