People talk about how Brock is the answer. What cr@p! So undisciplined and slow. Terrible vision, and his tackles didn't stick once. I'm sick of him. Add Sylvia to that criticism as well. If it wasn't for Junior and Jones there would have been no midfield at all. How many times did we handball to players under pressure? The following players should be dropped: McLean, Sylvia, Davey will not play due to injury. Bring in Rivers, Maric for Davey, Moloney, Petterd and Wheels. Play the Kids, we've got nothing to lose! Newton isn't the answer because he's soft, tries to take speccies all the time and doesn't chase. Play Martin at CHB. Test him out. This season is f*^%d so we might as well experiment and develop kids.

I hope McLean improves cos right now he's almost not AFL standard.

Right now????

The boy has played 3 good games of AFL football in his career....

I am bewildered how and when he became our saviour!?!?!?!

Posted

McLean, Ray, Cooney, Sylvia and Bradley......

2003 is turning into one of the most ordinary drafts of all.

Adcock in the 30s is the only redeeming factor.

McLean and Sylvia are more pedestrian than a school crossing.

It's simply terrible.

Even our best players are not AFL standard at the moment.

What the hell is going on?

I used to argue for ages on BigFooty that Brock McLean wasn't a one-game wonder (St Kilda final in 2006) but it looks like I was wrong.

Why don't you just stick a knife in our guts and be done with it? <_< :(

Hey, at least for 3 quarters we were smashing them in the clearances and winning the hardball gets.... woo.....

Add to that Andrew Walker, Kane Tenace, Raph Clarke, David Trotter and Ryler Dunn. Pretty average top 10. Cooney is very good. Stanton at 13, Adcock at 33 as you said, and maybe Daniel Jackson as a roughy at 53. Not a lot else there.

Yep! Sad to say but I reckon the much maligned Ben Holland would be one of our better performers if he gets a game. Is he injured?? Our backline needs some height. Has done for 20 years. On paper and just quietly on the field at the moment I doubt I have seen a worse backline in my time as a Demon (40 years)

 Ahhh No we did not. Not at all. Outside Jones we had no one.

Things are dire if you have run out of excuses for Brock!

Too slow the boy & seems to have an inflated opinion of his own ability.

Reminded me of an 80 year old man moving around The G @ times today.

The Sylvia - McLean recruiting coup is looking plain stupid @ present.

Definitely the worst game I have seen him play. I watched him for 10 minutes in the final quarter and could not see anything positive about his performance. I used to think he would Captain the Club to a Premiership, win a Brownlow and save us all from the Abyss. Not anymore.

Brock mcLean is an overrated player

he is however, one of the greatest bogans of all time

A lot of boys were playing like silly sulking kids.. when things didnt go theeir way they got very loose and sloppy... here was a case in point.. laughable tackling.. absolutely pathetic.. unfortunatley he wsnt alone.

Quite sad. Brock was considered our saviour but has dropped off considerably since 2006. Overrated.

Yep McLean wasn't much good, but add it to the list. IMO Carroll easily the dees best, Morton good and...*sound of wind through a deserted town*.

Rhino look at the stats. We beat them in the clearances all day, that wasn't our problem. Our decision making and poor skill was.

On McLean - he like the rest of the team is just out of confidence. Its sad to see, because deep down he is a talented player.

At half time I think we were winning the clearances something like 20 to 7. Still, I'm surprised you couldn't pick up my obvious sarcasm.

And I don't make excuses when there are no excuses to be made. He wasn't injured like he has been in previous bad games. He just had a bad game. He can join the rest of his teammates in the naughty corner.

7 tackles and 9 contested possessions. the effort is there. he is just out of form and getting support only from Jones in the middle. Oh for a ruckman who could lay some of the opposition midfielders flat to create some space in the middle. If you want to lineup some players, have a crack at White, Green and (a bit harsh due to his experience) Weetra. White provides little in the way of direction when he hangs around half back. Green endangers teammates when he handballs to them and Weetra shows neither the determination or desperation required.

Agreed on Weetra! probably wouldnt get a game at any other club. We gotta keep playing him though as green as he is!

We may have broken even at 1/4 time. But after that we got touched badly. You are dreaming if you think the clearances were nearly 3 to 1 our way.

Brock....had a bad game....he could make a string of pearls of them.

Ye gads we missed a slow fringe player like Armstrong.

Thompson would have left the following year for nothing if we had not traded him.

Not a good time to floss history.

I thought we were smashing them in clearances in the first half, but we were still down by 25. Of course when they started winning them we know what happened.

Isn't it funny how we always complained that one of our biggest problem was getting destroyed in clearances. And now when we get our fair share of them, we are so crap at either delivering it with any purpose to our fowards, or we don't have a player in our foward line who can win a one on one contest.

It's like my golf game, just when i start putting well, i can't hit my driver straight.

Here is my opinion... there is no point dwelling on the past. Yeah, Scott Thompson would of been a handy player against the Hawks and Dogs, but he isn't with us because of his own reasons... not the fault of a previous administration as you put it.

How about we look forward into the future and work with what we have. Lets mold one of our youngsters into the 'next' Scott Thompson, or the next 'Michael Voss'... or how about we even let them build there own reputations and not set limitations as to who or what they can become. That is pretty similar to the words of our own coach, and if that is the philosophy he has on developing his players... then I will back him 110%, and so should everyone else on here

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
