"IF" this Tj to WCE rumor were true, why would we be happy when word is that Sydney is offering a higher pick? Pick 11 vs pick 15. It would seem more likely that the swans chase him, as half of their list is now over 50!

The time is now to trade TJ. As started we will build around our 23 and younger players. We have a number of older players. TJ will be 28 next season and have almost zilch trade value by the end of next season. Trade'em while you can still get something half decent so we can build.

The maggs were smart trading Tarrant into last years super draft.

I would even consider Green and Bruce as very tradeable for the right deal.

TRAVIS Johnstone stepped off a plane from Thailand last night to decide where he wants to play football next year. It is unlikely to be at Melbourne.

The Brisbane Lions and Sydney are among the clubs to have expressed keen interest in the classy midfielder, with the Lions believed to be the strongest candidate to acquire the Demons' former No. 1 draft pick.

Johnstone remains tied to Melbourne for 2008 on a substantial contract, which could be the main obstacle to a deal.

There was speculation last night that Johnstone, should he agree to move north, could be traded to Brisbane for pick 14, which the Lions would be likely to receive from Collingwood for ruckman Cameron Wood.

Perhaps mindful of improving its pace through the midfield, Melbourne joined Richmond in interest in the Bulldogs' Jordan McMahon. Port Adelaide similarly retains an attraction to the former South Australian, but it is believed McMahon is less excited about a return to Adelaide.

While I am still reluctant to trade TJ, pick 14 is a very good offer. However, if we were to accept this deal it would be a clear sign that we are seeking to do what Hawthorn have done (start from scratch with youth). This means that a rapid rise up the ladder is not really on the cards.

if we trade Johnstone for pick 14, i would be reasonably happy. there are atleast 14 quality players in this draft, and if one top 10 slipped through, we could easily pick up a gem!

it would probably be a fair trade as well. johnstone is 27 turning 28. he would really help add experience and class to a young brisbane team.

MFC are looking for picks so that we can build a team around our under 23 yr olds.

our 27 yr olds are dispensible because they are viewed as the cream (rather than the core) to any tilt at the premiership we have in the next 3 years.

i dont claim to be an expert of this years draftees. this means that there will certainly be atleast a couple highly rated youngsters in the top 10 which i dont know about...

my point is, that if any of these 12 slip to 14 we should be stoked.

I think he gave away about 8 free kicks, a few in front of goal. He turned the ball over by foot an a few occasions

He was terrible, I still remember sitting back thinking how bad he was in the middle if enjoying the Demon goal avalanche

So in other words - no to Jordan McMahon

I think the obstacle is not the desire of TJ to stay at Melbourne, but the meaning behind the phrase 'substantial contract'.

Maybe that's why TJ's name is always bandied about come trade week, but no one bites.

I remember his form was poor late in the season but wouldn't go one one game alone because every player has a poor patch. I wonder if a trade of McMahon for Jamar or Miller with a minor adjustment of draft picks would be on the cards?
