POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond

Both cheer squads make it together but depending on whose home game it is, only one cheer squad designs it. This year being that it was Richmond’s home game they designed it and we helped make it at Punt Rd. Next year we’ll design it and they’ll come to ours to help make it.

Rest assured though, when we design it, you’ll not see a giant D & balls.

Did anyone think to offer a respectful opinion that their design may not have been appropriate, let alone worthy?

I was disappointed with the crowd. I might be wrong, but I believe it's the first time the ANZAC Day Eve game has had less than 70k...

The question that interests me is are we developing it as an Event game in competition with the Anzac Day match. Tickets for the Anzac Day match are effectively sold out on issue. Many membership and reserved seat allocations exclude Anzac Day allowing a premium price.

The media build up to our game was very low key even when a week out we knew it would be a pleasant night.

Next year it's our game. Finances dictate we must get 70k plus and be aiming for 80k. Marketing..come on down

Because they draw and paint their banners they take a long time to make them. Our crew usually leaves Punt Rd before it’s finished because sleep is important 😁

Besides that, at times you don’t know the effects until you see it raised (pun intended) and from a distance. A thumbnail would’ve been handy.

Regarding the crowd...the clubs should be aiming for 75,000 plus year in year out. On a perfect night 67 was a touch low for mine but not a disaster. I felt there was fewer Dee's fans that I expected.

No, Kolt. Just… no. This isn’t Farmer Wants A Wife

Same goes for you, Trelly. Unless you’ve got a house-painting side gig.

Hey Ghosty ddint expect you to be critical.

As long as they are comfortable and play like they are they can wear whatever they like.

Good that you can have a laugh about it though.

You must be enjoying Koltyns good form, I reckon you supported him earluer and stronger than anyone.

Keep up the good work

Not critical at all, dp. Just having a laugh 😊

The boys can rock up in whatever they like and I’ll love them all the same.

I’m delighted for Kolt. Until recently he seemed lost, he didn’t know if he had a place of his own in the team. It was sad to see his confidence slowly declining. But now he walks taller and he’s so proud of his recent accomplishments. A little bit of the original cockiness has gone but importantly, a little bit remains.

Tbh I didn't really notice the front issue. I loved the back of the banner, and the way both teams ran through together. Glad it was a team effort. Nothing but positive from me. Although now I have looked up the fuss online, a little purile chuckle!!

Caaaaarrrryyst its a banner, get over it!

Give yourself a good hard slap upside your head, wash your mouth out with soap and (in keeping with the theme) knee yourself in the groin for good measure!

Could he outdo his Uncle Byron? Well on track - his work in traffic is superb.

Byron was scary tough but Kozzie is a much better player. I think the closest equivalent is probably Cyril Rioli who was elite. Maybe I’m biased but I think kozzie has gone past him as well now.

We picked Jackson AND kozzie in that draft. Both of whome arguably might now be top 5 in the game.

If you are worried about that banner, you'll see thousands of phalluses in the form of war memorials on the corner of every country town in Australia. Sometimes with two wreaths.

Trelly looks like a cult member, and Kolt looks like the lawyer employed to get the cult tax exempt status.

All you need DJ is a tigers team that can compete on equal terms. If Richmond can start 2027 with what looks like team that can compete you can add 15 to 20 k.

You know what I didn't miss as it was a tigs home game.

The songs after the goals. It was a bit more quieter than our home games.

I liked it.

If she could make you knee yourself in your groin, I'd be scared of her too.

That's true OD, but unfortunately they're our bit-ches, so that's (equal terms) not going to happen. Apart from their heyday in 2017-2019 when they won three in a row (one of those where they ran over the top of us in the last when we had a full bench of injured players mind you), we've won the other 8 Anzac Eve fixtures.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
