GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

Featured Replies

It's Game Day on Friday night. ANZAC Eve. The big stage at the ‘G.

The Demons return to the spotlight for one of our most significant nights on the football calendar, taking on the Tigers in a clash that always carries extra weight given the gravity of occasion of the commemoration of the ANZAC Spirit. Under the lights, in front of a packed house, this is where moments are made.

Can the Dees rise to the occasion and deliver on the big stage, or will Richmond spoil the night?

All the build-up, discussion, and in-game reactions here. Go Dees.

Will be a better indicator of where we are than the following week against Sydney. Consistently beating sides below us on the ladder would be the first confirmation that we're on our way, rather than still finding our feet.

Definitely a danger game.

if we play like we did against the Lions we'll win

If we play like we did against Essendon we'll lose

Should get the result but I reckon the Tigers will show a bit too…Demons by 28 points

They better not be thinking this is already a W and put in the same effort they did against Essendon. I don't want to see some no name player kick 6 and their midfield tears us apart.

Can't wait to see what the picketts do on prime time tonight

To see both of them kick 3 or 4 goals each would be terrific as you know there would be a few crackers in the mix!

Just the type of game we stink up. Hope bathwater hasn't been on the menu this week

My thoughts exactly. My 14-year-old son said it would be such a Melbourne thing to do

5-0 MCG record coming up

Had Essendon not happened I’d agree with this. But if ever a team has learned something and learned something comprehensively, it’s this team. And that’s notwithstanding last week’s win.

What is this Friday night footy of which you speak? Footy in the dark? What a foreign concept!

Folks have been saying this is our only Friday night gig this season, but they need to add “thus far” to that.

This is the solitary good thing about the floating fixture, ie. we may be given more prime time slots in the second half of the season.

Sure, it makes planning ahead and booking flights etc. difficult but if it means getting to shine on the big stage it’s a big bunch of YAY from me!

Good Luck to the team on a special night.

Smash it in the first quarter and it will be game over. Will Richmond play the possession game? If so we have to be ready to flood the defensive 50 and use our speed to sling shot.

I still think we're a little tall up forward but the weather should be perfect for young Jeffo to show his wares before a big crowd.

Looking forward to Windsor and co showing us the future.

Am I unable to buy an MCC visitor ticket for my daughter because GA is sold out or because I need to wait for them to update details?

I took a look on Wednesday and they were avaliable so they must be sold out

Although there is nothing to indicate that on the MCC website... So I dunno.

Woke up and saw the 'Game Day' thread and thought: is it already Sunday!😄

A bit disorienting for a few minutes.

Hope we have been training under lights!

Dees by 4 goals.

Refused to add a seat to my GA for away games. Does anyone know GA seating areas for this formerly fully ticketed game - obviously the tiges supporters aren't out in the droves lime when they're good.

The solemnity of the pre-game, and the in-game performance of our lads, will make it a very special night. I’m already tingling with anticipation!

Four quarters of our best will deliver a 54 point victory, and really start heads turning.

Go Dees ❤️💙

All I know is if we lose tonight we can pencil in beating Sydney. That’s how it works right???

Thanks! Turns out it was a Ticketek error.

Honestly, if you were a malicious person and wanted to create the worst, most frustrating ticketing system possible, you couldn't do a better job than the duopoly. It's stunningly bad. And you pay for the privilege of their dripping incompetence.

Beautiful weather

Some clear communication from the MCC might result in another 10k rolling up tonight.

Instead we have a digital nightmare.

All they have to say is GA available in Bays X, Y and Z. AFL members used to have a link saying what part was unreserved but alas no more

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
