PODCAST: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast

Featured Replies

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches.

As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails.

Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows.

Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show.

Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

I'll caveat this by saying I haven't been able to watch the first half yet: would that be the closest thing to a 4 quarter effort we've seen for a while?

I know we were down at quarter time and gave up 3 of the first 4 goals, but it appears to me we were right in the game just not finishing good work and in the end broke close to even for the quarter.

Your questions for Binman.

Suprised youre not dialling in after that haha

Melksham. What an absolute legend. Do we manage him week to week? He looked pretty sore late but he’s so important at making a contest.

That win deserves a 3 hour pod. So much to like and discuss.

Our 2 old veterans are playing well. Please don't drop either

Question: was the umpiring in the third and fourth quarters as bad as a number of us thought or we just suffering the other team blindness?

Binman.

Do you think this was our 'defensive' midfield performance in a long time? We killed it in the clearances and centre clearances but our ability to nullify the oppo midfield with amazing tackling pressure impressed me the most. Sparrow, Steele, Koz, Windsor and Max 30 tackles between them really set the tone.

Speaking of which how great has Jack Steele been. 18 contested possessions, 11 clearances. Clayton who? 😜

@binman

Seeing these 4 rounds play out as they have.

Makes you wonder what we would look like now if we had bitten the bullet & traded Tracc and Oliver out a year earlier!

Alright, cutting of questions here. About to record the pod and then Andy will add the intro etc when he can.

But please note he wont be able to upload until tomorrow when arrives at his chalet after his jet setting

Of all the weeks you could have taken off, Andy! Can't wait to hear a 3 hour binman monologue about the match. Thanks for everything you guys do to keep the show rolling.

What does our best forward line look like? Based on facts? Based on best guess? By the end of the year?

Smaller group used in the centre bounce setup - are we getting to our ‘pure mids’, and the choice who went through was specific (tactical?) to GCS. For example Kolt had zero attendances - so no tags this week.

Was this episode only 57 minutes??? I was listening on YouTube and just stopped at that point virtually mid-sentence!

EDIT; Even in the podcasts above you finish them mid sentence! No goodbye or outro?!

Thanks go dees for letting us now

Just checked Spotify, there’s an issue there too - show goes another 10 mins (or should).

Not sure what happened but I've let the boss (@Demonland) know.

He'll probably blame the new intern

Where's George?

In the jungle.

Jokes

The process for recording the show, which normally goes out live, is a bit complex and above George and my pay grade - Andy records and mixes the show with a combo of recording software and analog mixing desk, with George and i joining via video link.

Whilst Andy is away, I'm recording a basic sound file, which i send to Andy who adds the intro and outro and then uploads to the various platforms.

Two more games and the DL pod will be back to normal.
