I wondered why they chose the last nine meetings and not the last 10. Then I remembered Round 9 in 2018 where we beat them by 109 points. Weโ€™re long overdue for that kind of win again ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ

I think the tally since 1897 is:

221 played, 122 wins for Carlton, 2 draws and 97 wins for Melbourne ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿค“

Geez I hope we smash your mob on Sunday

Who is going take the hit and carry Max off?

Petty and Lever?

I am getting emotional.

2 very strong beers in at a local pub and personally, a heavy few years full of transition. Sometimes I can't really cope anymore. Not suicidal, just nihilistic. None of this actually matters, not. one. bit. Not even this post on this forum.

But gee... Tom McDonald... what a career, one of of re-invention, of adaptation, and as M.Turnbull would call it -' agility'. In terms of role, capacity, and breadth of skill.

Holding down a backline post with J Frawley in 2011 at the 186 at Geelong (I was there...) to the reincarnation via Paul Roos' years, and Goodwin to being a dead eye [censored] dick (straight shooter) in front of goal.

Very few players would have had a career as tumultuous as his.

Severely underrated and extracted every little bit of himself - which speaks of professionalism, desire, high IQ and EQ , and will never get the kudos from the very average punter... (probs as he likes it eh)...

[censored] minted gold legend.

Max has carried our club for so long he'll probably carry himself off!

Adams played well last week in VFL (I am reliably told) and is the quickest guy over 100m at the club. Kozzie would easily beat him over 20m though.

King has already shown his liking to prioritise playing the fittest players at our club and that's partly why our best 2km men Kolt and Sharpy are in the side and they have rewarded him by being two of our best players both weeks.

But adding T-Mac alongside Lever and Petty does not imbue our defence with the pace needed to play at such a breakneck level of 2026. I am very happy for T-Mac to come back in because he provides versatility and has a little more height to play on Hudson O'Keefe or McKay. But it should be at the expense of either Lever or Petty. Adams should replace Turner.

Jed was just ok at Casey. The usual story when heโ€™s in great position he can mark or spoil and use it well but the moment heโ€™s out of position heโ€™s a non factor.

Yeah he has legspeed but he doesnโ€™t have the footy smarts to put it to work.

T Mc comes back in as perhaps our best tall defender and a decent rebounder (if volatile).

Petty and Lever move up the ground where they have the footy smarts to make an impact. Sure they might give up some things with pace but theyโ€™ll intercept if we can get some pressure on.

Iโ€™d imagine Petty rucks a fair bit too. The coaches should take the chance to throw Max forward a little to see if he can snag a goal.

Note to the Demon Shop ordering Dept:

  • Melk is on 248 games

  • Viney 237

  • Lever 188

  • Fritsch 173

Get your act together

What it highlights to me is Gawn, Mac, viney and melky. Almost 1000 games,

Out side is very inexperienced without this lot

And when he is re-signed is he going to be gifted games?

Glibness is a two way cul-de-sac.

Bayley has struggled for a couple years now and our new gameplan suits him in the offensive phase as the wankers say, but it certainly doesnโ€™t in the defensive phase.

Lazy MFers are going to stick out like sore ๐Ÿ‘โ€™s.

I wasnโ€™t being glib. I was genuinely curious as to why the poster was implying that Fritta will only get to 200 games should he cram the shortfall of 27 games in before this season ends. The implication being that Fritta wonโ€™t be adding to his games tally with the MFC beyond this year. Thatโ€™s how I read it, anyways.

I may have a slightly different view to most of you but I am a little surprised that everyone is saying T-Mac replaces Turner this week.

Given that our emphasis under Kingy is speed of ball movement and on top of that the slight tweaks to rules (quick ball ups, out of bounds etc) have increased speed throughout the AFL game as a whole, I am a little surprised that Jed Adams isn't one of our three tall backmen, especially now that we have lost Turner's pace.

Adams played well last week in VFL (I am reliably told) and is the quickest guy over 100m at the club. Kozzie would easily beat him over 20m though.

I am very happy for T-Mac to come back in because he provides versatility and has a little more height to play on Hudson O'Keefe or McKay. But it should be at the expense of either Lever or Petty. Adams should replace Turner.

And clearly our other defenders should be on notice because Xavier Taylor must play in the very near future because he is our future.

Finally I'd also say that as much as I enjoyed the spark that Latrelle provided against St Kilda, his game against Freo was not up to standard and he should be given a firm reminder over the next two weeks by watching Sunday from the stands and the following week by playing in the VFL.

While Laurie deserves his spot, I'd say it's hard not to bring in the lively and somewhat manic pace of Moniz-Wakefield.

I'd even say there is a case to drop Sparrow for Laurie, but I can't see that happening.

My changes: In: Adams, Moniz-Wakefield, T-Mac, Laurie. Out: Turner (injured), Lever, Latrelle P, Sparrow.

Expected changes: In: T-Mac, Moniz-Wakefield. Out: Turner, Latrelle P

TMac has been emergency for both games โ€ฆso an in form TMac over Adams who is not in AfL form ?

Iโ€™d like to see Melky in. I think his smarts could come in really handy against an inexperienced Carlton backline. Heโ€™s a difficult match up size wise also.

Can confirm the Blues aren't looking forward to facing him either.

I wonder if someone mathematically minded could calculate a ratio of poor onfield performance over the last 3 decades compared to membership numbers, crowds and merchandise sales.

The Blues would be off the charts. Not really a supporter base, more a big collective of Navy Blue junkies ๐Ÿ˜

You can call Carlton fans many things, but they put their money where their mouth is [slightly rabid twitch ensues as I think I hear the sounds 'Da Da Da Da' in the distance] ๐Ÿ˜

I love your optimism re Frittaโ€™s 200th. Would that be every regular season game plus every final including a drawn grand final?

Viney wonโ€™t make it this year either.

I didnt say anything about this year. That's your projection

Our promotions dept has known that Max and TMax's 250th were coming for some years and yet here we are.

Just giving them a rev up for the next couple of years. Start planning FFS

There have been a few articles recently about whether the perennial underperformance by Essendon and Carlton will lead to a reduction in the overall fanbase. I really don't know but we all know what happened to MFC post 1964.

I think the AFL is getting the message about the Academy rorts but with the Eagles, Bombers and Blues in the bottom half for an extended period (hello Tasmania) mild alarm bells may ring.

Iโ€™m hoping EVERYONE who can come is coming coz say what you like about Blues fans but they turn up. Okay so they frequently leave at 3qtr time, but they turn up nonetheless.

Besides that, for anyone who can attend but is considering watching it at home for whatever reasonโ€ฆ two words:

Max [censored] Gawn.

We endlessly wax lyrical about Max to the point where itโ€™s a brave soul whoโ€™ll dare say a negative thing about him. We idolise Max and rightly so. The entire footy world holds Max in the greatest esteem and the respect for him is beyond anything weโ€™ve seen for a long time. Thereforeโ€ฆ

Back up your love for the big guy by attending his incredible milestone game!

It would help if the club directly ie email or sms, let members know it is a replacement game for Alice and entry is free.

Thanks for info. Happy to accept I missed that, probably because i dont tune into footy that early in the year.

A reminder closer to the game would be useful.

I can't find the email, did it day anything about a reserved Bay for premium members which they usually provide? TIA.

either way i'll be at the game.
