Bring the Sub rule back!

It needs a third unsuccessful try!!

Sweden comes out with a new scientific breakthrough, and as Gawny is short on cash and he completes medical trials (fake), they successfully multiply Gawny, and make three more of him.

Everyone will agree with my 3 worders… at least once this season

If that happens, you'll surely have to change your name to GawnOfTheLiving.

Steven May’s retirement lunch at Entrecôte goes off without a hitch. The next day though, in an apparently unrelated incident, Jake Melkshan gets hand surgery after being bitten by his dog.

Aww gee doing just one is hard.

I'm going to stack a few sub-claims into the big one which is of course Melbourne making the top 4.

So the contingent claims are;

Freo lose both games against West Coast, costing them the top 4 slot.

Geelong finally stumble through a combination of age and, finally, scandal breaking through the mysteriously opaque media. Their brittle defence cracks under a Kingsterminded attack, costing them a crucial 8-point game and bringing Melbourne into the top 4 instead of them.

Collingwood just aren't that good, and enter into another long slow decline, with Tasmania playing finals before they do again. Not really related but just fun to picture.

Giants injury crisis hits their top players, with no game this season featuring all of their 2025 best 6 and nobody from that group playing more than 17 games.

Hawks get fugured out and found out by fast counter-attack.

Suns, again, think it'll just happen for them because they are so hot, and drop games they should win.

From the other end of the ladder, each of North, Richmond and West Coast improve significantly while multiple teams finish the season in the 10-12 win range. The shortage of easy pickings means that just 14 wins and good percentage will slip you into 4th spot.

So there it is, my outlandish prediction that has to have the entire season assembled around it.

But lock in the 2028 Demon Premiership. Just like the old gypsy woman said.

If anyone says “in love” or “pregnant” I’ll burn Demonland to the ground

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
