That was the consensus from my Hawks mates.

mine too

says a lot that he was borderline for them and clearly best back 6 for us

Any knee experts want to hazard a guess based on the footage? Gutted for him. I hate these pre season games.

Lots of quick play, low kicks, multiple handball chains and forward movement. Langford, Laurie and CJ doing some nice stuff (CJ kicking is a genuine weakness though). Loving Fritsch's work.

But is feels like the match v North - Tigers have been appalling.

Tigers fans booing at a practice match

Pretty on brand for that supporter base.

Not much separates them from collingwood and essendon.

We got to do whatever we can to not have Lever as our deepest defender.

Chandler goals after some nice work from Sharp and Windsor.

lovely goal. nice ball movement again

Excellent movement from defense leads to Chandler marking and goaling

I think Tholstrup is finally beginning to show his stuff, including awareness and decision making. And JVR is very impressive this preseason.

Our transition game is going to be one of heart attack intensity whoe year. Just need to get used to it. Great when it works

Kalani. That’s interesting / promising!

One of the worst things to do with glandular fever is to rush back too soon.

Not unusual to rush back then get a set back

I reckon the pass from fritta to Luker didnt help could have been lower and harder, it did seem to set Luker up for the clash

Very ..'sloppy'.. some players... you know... just take opportunities. They're around.

spurs - let’s hope Dopey MC the MRO reads this.

He will cite Frittata as contributing and put him out for 3.

Absolutely pouring at Ballan (20mm in 30 mins) and the radar colours are dark orange and black

Pettys efforts in tackles and physical efforts are insipid.

Windsor looking very good, much more involved this week

Sharpy soccers another after a brilliant centre clearance!

26-12

Must have just come back on. Was on the bench for a while I started to panic haha

The poor decision to leave Heath out is now exposed

Ball movement and forward line looks excellent without any big lumps taking up space.

We might need to pick a 3rd tall to go with Mihocek and JvR in round 1 to protect against injury.

But equally we might not.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
