Lightning interrupts again

I’m starting to wish this new grandstand structure was made of wood.

Not great preparation is it

Not unless we were playing the first game up in Brisbane again like a couple of years ago.

Well if that's it then I'm pretty happy with what I saw with the exception of Kentfield's injury. Good fast movement, Gawn looked good, Kozzy is awesome and JVR has his swagger back.

Plenty to work on, especially defensively but I'm overall feeling extremely positive about things which is a foreign feeling, especially after last year.

REMAINDER OF GAME ABANDONED

Game has been called off.

Unfortunately this isnt ideal preparation for round 1.

We are going to struggle to run out the game in rnd 1

Seen Jeffo walking around no limp hopefully gets back sooner. Hopefully Luker ok and checkers is ready for round 1

Early days but I don't think we're missing the two heavy anchors weighing us down last year.

Good choice of ground AFL… lighting not good enough to complete game!

Smells more like pork barrelling than KFC?

After the next two days supposed to be worse? Should be lovely up here.

Weird day.

good signs though. We Probably do need to tighten up a bit defensively to beat better teams, but a lot more fun to watch

… and with that, the Demons finish their summer campaign with a win and they rocket up to the top of the preseason ladder (we’ll update it later).

Bad luck to Tom Matthews and Xavier Taylor who didn’t get a sniff but I’m sure that they will get a run at Casey tomorrow.

The problem is that the club has to work out a way to deal with the limited preparation given that there are still 16 days remaining before the first game vs St Kilda who will have a run under its belt next week.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
