Any word on whether our Origin boys will be available for this match?

They won’t be playing on Friday. The State of Origin match counts as their preseason match.

This is actually incorrect. They are playing on Friday. Managed minutes

🚨🚨Opposition Watch 🚨🚨

Fellow Roos youngster George Wardlaw is also racing the clock for round one after a recent hamstring injury, but the club is also confident he will be able to play the Power.

The Roos will play Melbourne in a match simulation on Friday before they face Collingwood in the AAMI Community Series on March 1.

The Roos have dealt with multiple injury issues this pre-season.

Draftee Blake Thredgold underwent surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury, while Jackson Archer will miss 2026 due to an ACL injury.

Aidan Corr, Luke McDonald and Charlie Spargo have also dealt with injuries this pre-season.

We have multiple Moniz-Wakefields?

Kozzie and Rivers playing after Origin duties??

Was wrongly under the impression that the trio (including Max) would sit this one out.

The game will be televised live on Fox Footy and Kayo. It will not have Fox commentators nor the Fox graphics.

No Melksham or Petty.

FB: Howes T Mc Lever

HB: Salem Turner CJ

C: Langdon Steele Langford

HF: Chandler JVR Fritsch

FF: L. Pickett Mihocek Jeffo

Foll: Heath Windsor K. Pickett

Int: X. Taylor, Tholstrup, Rivers, Lindsay, Sparrow

Potential Subs: Kentfield, Adams, Mentha, Laurie, Sharp

And I expect guys like Mihocek, CJ and Salem might only play a half.

Might only leave Matthews, Onley and Berry for the Casey hit out.

I will have my eyes on:

  1. The quality of the new young midfielders and how quickly, how well, they defensively spread. I am liking the look of our forward options and back options, but if our new midfield can't switch to defense quickly, we might see opposition midfields kick goals against us. Jack Steele is vital to us with Viney out.

  2. I remain bullish about Jeffo, and will watch his preseason closely.

  3. Our forward leading and repeat leading patterns. Our lack of movement and nouse inside F50 has been appalling since BBB left.

  4. Will our new gameplan be clearly noticeable, especially pace of transition.

I love that this topic includes a discussion on chairs. Shame you cant bring a ute into the ground for the chairs. I am hopeful it will now descend into a discussion on snakes.

I assume North know how to get to Casey and that they have to bring the oranges.

Not sure where Duursma and FOS have been training.

They’re missing McKercher and Wardlaw from their midfield but still have some talent, same for the forward line missing Curtis and Trembath.

Becker’s a rebounding third tall type. He might be one to watch. Hopefully we can stop kicking it to Comben and our forwards can create some mismatches.

Do we get GAMEDAY, Yes ?

You bloody beauty,

Bring it ON ! Go Dee’s

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
