2026 Injury List

Featured Replies

That is indeed great news for young Luker Kentfield, four weeks in a brace is a bit of a nuisance but he really looks superfit and should bounce back quickly in modified rehab. pheeewww!!!

Didn't Max have a similar scare in a few preseason's and was back playing again fairly early in the season, if not Rd 1?

I'm thinking that Max's timing may have been much earlier in preseason compared to Luker and I know probably all injuries are different, but it gives me hope that Luker will be available to debut, start building his game and impacting for the team sometime in the first half of the season, rather than another wasted year on the sidelines.

Until then, I'm pretty confident we have some good forward options in JVR, Mihocek, Fritta, Melksham and Co. Mihocek in particular looks like he could provide us with a great goal kicking avenue deep in attack.

In the first season, with Grundy as backup, Viney took Max out when he ran into him at a centre bounce. Max thought it was the end, but it proved to be a medial. I think he got back within a month.

Max did his medial against Brisbane in round two of 2023. He only missed the next three games.

Let's hope that Luker has a similarly swift recovery.

Sounds like a minor tear to the ligament which heals with rest

Don’t think he’ll need much rehab

Think it’s a grade 2 MCL. Grade 1 is usually just a bit of rest and get back out there. Grade 3 is when they lean towards surgery to get it healed quicker.

But he’ll definitely need a period of rehab, usually at least equal to how long he’s off legs in a brace.

Maybe he can tick these steps off within a week each but with a big body young tall I’d suspect they’ll lean conservatively.

Please remove all ladders/black cats/mirrors away from this fella.

keen to see what he can bring to the table but has had a run of bad luck

The good thing about an isolated MCL injury is that you can get back to straight line running relatively early in your rehab.

I had a grade 2 MCL injury a few years ago and they heal up well (good blood supply).

He would have needed time to recover from the concussion and face injury so he'll come back fresh

He passed the concussion test

Odd that he seemed stunned at the time. Maybe it was just pain.

I’m obviously no expert but would he need to do much rehab? He completed most of the preseason so fitness shouldn’t be too impacted

Doesn't take long to lose fitness when your running is impacted especially as the first week would be as simple as resting and icing up.

He'll need to build it all up again once he can resume running.

Yeah, back half of season but that is better than an alternative…

This is typically 6-8 weeks. A month in a brace and then strengthen the ligament. I hope he likes swimming. Recovery will be also in the gym so he can continue to build his upper body. Probably aim for a round 6/7 return at Casey.

Unfortunately injury has meant he won’t debut. He was odds on for round 1 in my view so tough one to handle. Luker will be back.

I would have guessed 99.9% he was concussed. He didn’t brace at all for impact

Which leg did he injure?

Both legs folded so easily and it’s certainly not obvious based off landing.

A betting person would guess his leg that he had strapped but no clue.

I think it was the right knee

Cal Twomey reporting 4-6 weeks for Luker

Safer bet is to wait on the club. Right now it’s been mentioned 4-8 depending on source.

Very wide range and clubs said nothing.

Id be banking on Twomey to be the one that’s right

Really bummed for this kid, man he's had some rotten luck.

BUT, silver linings, could have been worse, so hopefully we see him out soon because I reckon he's gonna go great.

So 4 weeks rehab followed by say 7 weeks fitness + training = a return date of Rnd 11 or thereabouts.

As I suggested mid season for him
