Anyone got his speed?

He seems quite slow but maybe because heโ€™s so big, his pace isnโ€™t as easy to see.

Very happy with this pick. He's run a 2.884 20m sprint in the past despite not testing at the combine. Hope he develops nicely.

Just to add anything under 3 seconds is considered elite

Highlights are just that but I did notice he doesn't hesitate to kick.on his non-preferred when it needs

This was the first thing I noticed in the highlights. A bit of a lost art in young footballers now. And something that can separate you from the pack.

Yep. Only three players at the Combine have done it in a time below 2.80. (Jack Watts ran a 2.82.)

Just from those videos, he looks extraordinarily quick for a person of his size and body shape.

Endurance and defensive running were the criticisms that seemed to go around, but are very much things a player can improve in an AFL environment.

Loved his game against the Allies this year and there is more than enough to work with. An exciting get!

His endurance is actually fine. Ran a good 2km at the pre season cam at the start of the year.

Definitely a solid athlete where we'll see great improvement in an AFL environment

Awesome!

I think his height/build makes him look a lot slower than he is.

Looking forward to Gawn Culley Onley - the tallest onball division in AFL history!

After watching those clips I was really impressed by his clean hands and constantly getting into the right spot for his teammates, not frightened to take it on and attempt to break tackles. He moved the ball on quickly to his teammates advantage at every opportunity. I agree we have a steal with Riley Onley. I think that JT and team would be very happy with this years draft results. Time will tell.

Kicking can be pretty rough but a very impressive athlete, looks exciting

Overthinking recruiters overlook big bodied gun.

There i said it

HOLD ME TO ACCOUNT PEOPLE

Hold me to account

The kicking can be a bit lazy but for a big bloke, his hands and work in tight are very good.

The chassis is there, with a little bit of fine tuning in an AFL program, he could be anything

Shepparton United star hoping AFL wonโ€™t Onley be a dream...

AFL draft hopeful Riley Onley speaks to The News about his Shepparton junior footy, resilient draft campaign and an insight into the nervous week ahead.

I can see why heโ€™s gone in the rookie draft - I can imagine he didnโ€™t hit the interviews out of the park the same way someone like Matthews would have.

But, seems like we will know (assuming he stays healthy) very quickly if heโ€™s around for the long hall. He doesnโ€™t seem like a journey man - he sounds and looks like a guy who it either clicks for and he has a huge career or he is gone by 2028.

here is hoping for a Brownlow ๐Ÿ˜‚

How many Bontempelliโ€™s can you fit in one side?

Hey, I thought Jack Ison was the new Bont ... so much so that the Doggies didn't bid ๐Ÿ˜

Am I watching the same clips as everyone else? I watched the futures games and the champs vs Allies and he had about 10 handball turnovers in both and didnโ€™t complete a handball more than 50cm

Stoppage work looks strong here.

Cripps-like but with pace.

Iโ€™m putting it out there but there are some comparisons with Adam Goodesโ€ฆ. This one feels like a Daniel turner level gem

Definitely worth the punt and lots to like - clean hands and speed from the contest for a big dude, plus dual-sided. Would've liked to see some tackling in those highlights and a contested mark or two.

Itโ€™s hard to do that RM when heโ€™s always got the ball in hand or has just kicked it or hand balled it. ๐Ÿ˜

High upside pick with a point of difference; exactly what the rookie draft is for. Hopefully he can develop well in our system and become an explosive onballer.

Looks a great pick. Welcome Riley!

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
