why do they dilly-dally so much,

The dilly-dallying didn’t annoy me half as much as all of that shilly-shallying!!

So who do we rate that's left over?

Any chance Jack Ison slips through to our next pick?

He is a Carlton academy pick. Carlton have positioned themselves to match a bid for him around now. So... No.

Hands off, he already picked his locker at Parc de Princes 😁

Leftovers seem to be: Greeves, NHH, Phillipou, King (A), Ludowyke, Emmett, Ison (A), Thredgold. Byrne, Leray, Onley. A lot of talent still on the board with only 5 live picks away

5 not 4 picks away

Hard to cover all needs but we just don’t seem draft key fwds that ever work out

I’d have taken Nairn and Barker if I went then hawks trade back route. But I do think Schubert is very handy because he’s a really hand ruck who can develop as a forward.

Anyway, always trust in JT and think Latrelle can play. Just not sure we maximised our hand in a draft that should’ve been more about rebuilding the list than individuals.

HH and Greeves still on the board which I think we take one of to add to our midfield.

Onley also interesting.

Not including senior mids

Windsor 185cm Langford 190cm Lindsey 183cm Rivers 188cm Kozzy 171 cm

One Potential mid to join

Greeves 191cm Rodriguez 184cm Wright 183cm Onley 195cm Hibbins-Hargreaves 186cm

Thredgold.

Not from the Thredgolds of ‘Thorough Grip Garterettes’ fame, by any chance?

Greeves.

Ludowyk

Who else?

Phillipou, Emmett, Thredgold, Byrne, Allen, King, Heatherton, Williams, Matthews, LeRay, Swaddling, Rodriguez, Ainsworth, Dalton, Whan, BOB, Onley, Holmes, Coulson, Kickett, Kondogianis, Walley,

So probably none of these and some obscure vfl player

Omg what is happening! We've just doubled our Picketts!

l hope we pick Leon Pickett with our next pick. Pickett to Pickett who kicks it to Kickett.

Take whoever we think is the best midfielder at 30 and I reckon we’ve done well for ourselves for draft

Byrne and Ainsworth the 2 Twomey linked us with. Tai Hayes the obscure VFL player he linked us to.

Not sure this is the spot to go for needs too much but a mid who can play forward early on would be very handy. Phillipou, Allen fit the bill

What are those needs?

Are there better midfield options next year?

Will there be better small fwd options next year?

Who are our current small fwd options considering we need Kosi on ball? Who brings that fwd half pressure?

We need to replace May, Judd, Trac, Oliver for one. Kozzy is still a fed more than mid. Also need to add a bunch of good kickers to get the ball into the forward line. So there are higher priorities.

Some interesting youngsters to chose from …

Jack Ison VIC mid/fwd (surely sometimes bids on him and see if Blues match )

Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves VIC midfield/HF👍🏻

Jevan Phillipou SA mid/hff👍🏻

Sam Allen VIC mid

Ollie Greeves VIC big mid

Riley Onley VIC. tall mid

Matthew LeRay. SA. Mid/wing

Fred Rodriguez WA midfielder
Rory Wright. VIC midfielder

Koby Coulson (* Suns academy) midfielder

Suns would be unlikely to match Coulson if the Dees were to grab the tough running midfielder

So pick 37 is now pick 30 and the fifth pick tmw.

Silly question - why did it become pick 30?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
